Cute. :)

But, makes me ponder, when was the last time I saw a BSOD? Short of a dead/dying hard drive, its been a long while.

^^^ Agreed.... been a very long time since I've seen one that wasn't intentional ;)

That was pretty damn funny with the spinning ball of death... I still love the DROID commercials too.

Bad driver? Even though Vista was a resource hog, it was fairly stable for me.

me too. in fact, i've never had a problem with it, other than that it is a ridiculous hog.

With a straight load, I'd be inclined to agree. But with a fully stig'd Vista machine... Headaches galore. Throw in third-party PKI software/optimizations, tons of local and group policy objects and you've got an image that is not as tolerant of updates and sw revision changes than something that was hand-jammed off the disc. And this is leaving most third-party software out of the mix.

At least, in my professional experience, stig-ing a Vista box causes all sorts of performance and reliability issues. At home, I've never had a problem with simpler machines either on bare metal or VMs.

Reminds me of the joke relating boxes to erections - they'll stay up, so long as you don't :censor: with them.

oh i wasn't referring to a military-grade image, just my home shit ;). not too wild... these days i primarily use it for itunes, pc gaming (btw, left 4 dead 2's demo is available over steam if you preorder the game), and internets. i, like many of you, certainly understand the lovely intricacies of building and deploying a custom image across multiple platforms. *puke*

if i didn't game on this desktop rig, i'd have ditched it in favor of a nice macbook pro long ago. i could certainly use the extra space (by way of chucking my desk).
