The new Slim PS3 was announced yesterday at a game convention and will be available for sale the first week of September.
and will retail for $300 [...]. It's smaller and lighter, has a 120GB HDD, and packs "all the same features" of the regular PS3 while consuming 34 percent less power and taking up 32 percent less space

That is definitely cool. Mebbe it will help the platform become more widely adopted. I'm also interested to see what the 3.0 software will bring.
(I got my 80GB model for $200 brand new though, so I don't really feel like I'm missing out on anything other than power savings. )

Yeah I got my 80GB refurbished for about $500 but I can play PS2 games.

Looks nice and as long as it's packing the horsepower it's good by me! I hope they reduce the heat signature too... f*cker can get hot enough to see from a couple clicks!
