My anger at Ford is at a constant boil. It reaches exploding level every time I see an article or program on any of the hot euro or Auzzie Ford products.
They have fantastic cars everywhere but here, and have for years. And we never get them, EVER. (Merkur 4Ti doesn't count)
I actually had someone tell me that Ford tried with the SVT Contour but it didn't sell.
REALLY?! A great handling chassis with an anemic engine for high dollar will not selling well? What a shocker!

Not sure what you mean. Every article I've read about the new Fiesta all say it's a truly brilliant car. How can you say it's a POS?

Apart from that, I think you're right when it comes to their performance cars. They're amazing everywhere else but here.

Believe me, I lead the parade when it comes to botching about the Focus RS. Also heard nothing but good about the Fiesta/Mazda2, which I eagerly await. Seems much more viable than a Fit or the like.

The contour was a great car that the american driving public never really understood.

The contour was a good car and the SVT was a VERY good handling car. The problem was Ford priced it way out of proportion with it's competition. It had a 195 hp and 165 lb/ft V6 that Ford priced around $23,000 during it's 1995-2000 cycle run. It could run a 7 second 0-60 and 15 second 1/4 mile which a V6 Accord, Jetta, Maxima and others could match. And while it's handling was usually superior, it wasn't anything a good set of springs struts and tires on the others couldn't surpass. Therein lied the problem, it's competition was cheaper, offered better quality (Ford was not known for it's quality in the mid to late 90s) and was likely to hold it's value better than the SVT Focus. I had a buddy with one back in 98 and I liked the car. However, at the time, I had a 1992 Galant VR4 that I had purchased 5 years earlier and we both agreed was far superior in every respect and cost me less.

Again, if you purchased it used for significantly less than the $23k asking price than you got a good car.
But if you bought one new, at anywhere near it's asking price, than I fear you choose poorly.

It is more of an emphasis that we could get the AWESOME Focus RS but instead we get the VERY LAME fiesta.

And another thing is that Ford cars overseas are MUCH better cars than what we get in the states (yes, I believe there is a conspiracy there).
