They would fit fine, as long as you don't drop the suspension any significant degree.
The 235/45/17 may not be ideal tires however. I don't recommend going beyond 225/45 17 on lowered wagons so 235s on a stock suspension may or may not rub.
Wow, I sure do miss a lot. That sounds like quite an ordeal. But don't you feel better now that it is over?
I had a similar experience trying to diagnose my squeek squeek. My aluminum brake caliper decided to give the bolt all of its threads. So $98 later, I had a massive drill bit, a big tap, and a helicoil kit.
I can't tell you how nervous I was drilling into my caliper with this huge drill bit. The bit was so big that it didn't fit my electric drill. Had to upgrade to the pneumatic one. Then came tapping the hole, then putting in the threads. Well, I didn't want to have that happen again, so I did the same thing to the other bolt hole.
You are lucky though, your noise went away. I need a new axle.

Was that the squeaking that we were all following around in the parking lot at hard times? If so, whoa!
Well, it wasn't the brakes, or the suspension. Didn't squeak when turned all the way either side and spun unloaded. Squeak came back when I put a jack stand under the a-arm attachment point and spun the wheel.
The axle is the only thing left that I can think of. If people are game to help out, I'll pick up a new axle.
I think this thread has been hijacked. Sorry Alan!

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.
17x8 ET45, not 17x7.5 ET48 as originally posted...
Paid ~$600 for tires, $1000 for wheels, and ~$100 mounting/balancing.
They are my auto-x set but I've only used them twice (maybe 30 miles total). They are pristine, no chips, rash, etc... I keep them in tire rack wheel totes in my closet. Never seen rain/snow. They are as close to brand new as you get on a used set and yes, they clear brembos.
Looking for $1250 shipped (Cont. US) (I will be in CA by July so I can drop off, rather than ship if there)
Wheels Only - $850 shipped (Cont. US)
Tires Only - $450 shipped (Cont. US)
NEW PRICE - $1000 + shipping

I've been keeping an eye on the MAIC classifieds but people are either asking (what I consider to be) too much for their wheels / tires or there's just not that many 5x100 17" sets out there.
I think I should finally close out this thread with the following: new 17" wheels have been acquired!
Off of NASIOC classifieds I got a set of 17x7 OZ Superleggera's with BF Goodrich g-Force Sports (225/45-17). Felt I got a fair value at $425 pickup for the set. Behold! Ye old crappy cellphone pic of doom:

Perfecto! Good choice! I hope they are silver, too!

Um ... ... actually, they are silver. Poor lighting in the garage combined with the crappiness of my camera phone just make it look gold.
Either way, I'm just happy to get a set of decent 17"-ers. Been on stock wheels for far too long.

Heh... oops. I was too quick to look at the pictures. Honestly, silver does look really sharp too. I'm just slightly biased towards gold and white. Like you said, awesome step up from teh stockers!
