Typing @ prompt sign of illicit behavior?

Apparently, some police in Boston believe that simply using a shell is sufficient probable cause for illicit behavior.
EFF linky.
This is one of those articles that completely halt my being. I'm reminded of the Fight Club quote regarding "we protect you while you sleep."
really?? It just disappointing on a
humanity level to me. Argh.

Well I wish I could say that I was surprised but it's already been proved the Bostonians are

This sounds fake. Not that it's actually a hoax, but it sounds like something I'd see in some bad Kafka short story.

Our teacher in my CISSP (The longest week of my life) class said something to the effect that a judge had ruled it illegal to ping someone/thing in Texa$... I can't find a link though, so I'm going to call BS...
