New wheels and tires

Well, I folded and grabbed yet another set of wheels and tires:
18x8 ASA GT1
Shod w/ 225/45/18 225/45ZR-18 Hankook Ventus S1 evo (max performance summer)
I bought the wheels b/c they were inexpensive, new, and super hot looking!
I bought the tires b/c the wheels needed them, free balancing and mounting, and they were inexpensive...and I never had dedicated summer tires that were not all-seasons.
I am very weak person when it comes to mods...

Thank you, sir!
Yeah, they caught my eye one day perusing the tirerack for what 18" wheels are on sale and what is new. I couldn't get them out of my mind. I hope they look good on my ride, too.

I dig the mesh style rims. how much do they weigh?

Very pretty!
Tire rack doesn't have a weight on them yet. My guess would be 22-24 lbs.
You'll have to let us know how the Ventus S1 evo tires feel.

Yeah, I am guessing the same for weight. I was considering the FSTi wheels so these will be lighter and wider...and a @#$@# lot cheaper
I will definitely keep you posted on the tires, too. Hopefully, they don't wear out too fast.

My buddy Marco photochopped on the wheels for me. I think they look pretty sweet!
I am excited!

Well, I tried fitting one new wheel on the front but hit the caliper
...so they are in the back of my wagon waiting to hit up MachV again for some spacers. I hope 5mm does the trick and my lug bolts are long enough.

I was contemplating selling but might just make them winter wheels and throw a set of Dunlop SP Winter Sport M3s on them. I do like them.

I was hoping you would be at the Celebrity Deli meet so that you could see them on the ride before I swapped out for the summer.

so the new wheels don't fit w/ the new calipers and would require spacers and longer lugs which will cause problems w/ other sets of wheels...well, requiring another open ended set of lug nuts. Too much hassle for me. I am going to just send back these perfectly good wheels and tires to tirerack. Probably would have fit fine w/ WRX 4pot/2pot and definitely would fit w/ the stockers....but I just had to go big!
Oh, well...you live and learn...and looks like the goldies aren't going anywhere, too

I'd say it all worked out for the best.
(read: keep the goldies)

Well, I have decided to keep the tires and sell just the wheels.
The gold RPF1s will replace my SDRs as my winter wheels and these will be my new summers:
What do you guys think? And, yes, I know they will fit

Are you sure you want to run 225's on an 8" rim?
the following are 18x8's
I would suggest the Rota Formula mesh (Weight 21 lbs)
or
Rota P1's (Weight19.2 lbs) Hyper Black!!!
or
Enkei NT03-M (Weight: 18.5lbs.)
I think theses would be best
MB Weapons 18x7.5:
evidence of a tough wheel:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showpos ... ostcount=8
those are 225's on 8"
*The Tenzo 18x8 weighs 22.6 lbs

You do realize I am already running 225/45/18s on my Gold 18x8 RPF1s, right?

i did not...how are they?
I was just reading a lil bit and some say that the 225's fit...but they think the 235 would have been a better fit. Also some people in the vdub scenece use a 225 on a 8" to get that stretched look. I guess you could get various results denpending on tire brand since some stick out more than others. I always thought 225's were best on 7-7.5" wheels. Hell if they fit good then you would be saving some buck-a-roos. Some people are putting 225's on stock 16x6.5" wheels

225 are ideal for a 7.5" inch rim but will fit on a 8" or even 8.5" rim. The wheels work/look/feel great.
