Pedals now in.
Things are getting closer to being done at Havspeed. The official still-to-do list before it comes back to PA is
- Finish last of seam welding
- Fabricate/Install thicker steel rocker panels
- Install holes for pin-stand
- Fabricate mount for hydraulic e-brake
- Mount hydraulic e-brake
- Weld mounting points for underbody protection.
- Weld/install Howe 1.5:1 steering quickener.
- Powdercoat the whole inside

Haven't heard of the Howe rack. I do know many of the Subie's I've codriven in rally have the Q-Rack.

It's not a rack. It's a quickener that goes in line with the steering column.
I'm familiar with Q-Rack and it's certainly proven. However I'm avoiding modifying the rack due to the cost and the fact that the rack is much more likely to fail than the column. This has been used very successfully in the past by other people I have known. It basically gears up the column. This also gives me good options based on the fact that it can be flipped to gear down the colum... or it also can be used with different racks to produce different results.
Apart form this the Howe quickener is easily removed, and easily disassembled for maintenance and much much cheaper.

Well the cage is officially done. Gussets are in and everything looks great. Now to finish the rest of that do-do list.
So it looks like we're going with 20 gauge steel rocker panels. The company that Andrew knows if fabbing them up right now. They shold be ready inside a few days and then those go on.
I'll be talking to the e-brake manufacturer to get that shipped off to the car and then it'll be time to get that installed. Here's a preview of that
Thinking of changing the handle. Still haven't decided how I want it yet. The mount itself will be slightly rotated and mounted high so it's more of a natural feel to pull and I can return to the wheel quickly. When used in conjunction with the dual master cylinders the tilton's provide me it should provide a very nice braking setup.

Things are coming to an close at Havspeed. Just a few quick updates:
Steering quickener installed
Gussets and pin stand mounts finished (cage now done)
Steel rocker panels now on
Just a few more seam welds and some weld-nuts and we'll be ready to powdercoat.

Yep haha. The bikes were originally made to promote Havspeed at a meet at OCC. Rick Petko and a few of the other guys gave it a ride.
So I guess this means I can say I've ridden the same chopper bikes as the OCC guys. Hm.

More pics coming soon. All welding is now done and the hydraulic handbrake is mounted (not hooked up). The car is now ready to go off to CT for powdercoating.
