Then grab some PPG gears for the STi 6spd, new stronger axles, stronger and lighter driveshaft...

Re: BluBallz - Sabre's 2004 STI
Oh, no doubt. I have a feeling I'll hit in the upper 90's for my IDC's under 20PSI. It's insane how much more fuel I'm flowing. I'm already looking at this as a replacement for the turbo that is quickly failing I'm also looking at going top feed injectors (1000cc ID's).drwrx wrote:It was nice to see it again.
I think once the break in period is over you will want larger injectors and a bigger turbo to keep up with those cams and heads.
As long as the stock gear box is working, I'm not touching itsirwilliam wrote:Then grab some PPG gears for the STi 6spd, new stronger axles, stronger and lighter driveshaft...

Yep! Apparently ATP has been doing it for awhile on their stock location 35, but not advertising it much.

Re: BluBallz - Sabre's 2004 STI
Update on BluBallz: Right after breaking the engine in and getting a little boost on it (10PSI) the turbo blew chunks on me. The engine is fine, but the turbo is toast. I now have a Blouch Dom 4 XT on the way.

I'm not certain how to feel about that.
Glad it didn't do any damage to the engine but "damn" a total turbo disintegration?!
When does the new snail arrive?

WTF, Julian!? You got a headless bloody chicken hanging from your rear view mirror?
Hope things turn out good w/ the new turbo. May this one stay intact

You should know better enough to stay away from the chinese eBay knockoffs... What are the specs on the new charger you're throwing on? And I need to ride in that beast when said turbo is installed (and safely passes 10psi test).Sabre wrote:Update on BluBallz: Right after breaking the engine in and getting a little boost on it (10PSI) the turbo blew chunks on me. I catch the flu (and no swine jokes, I'm vegetarian damnit!), The Monkey looses a jorb and the balz blows chunks.
I should never get sick again....
What are you doing with the 'Zilla turbo? did they give you a core exchange or something for it?

Re: BluBallz - Sabre's 2004 STI
No worries, nothing happened to the engine, so it's all good. I swear the SuperZilla sensed it's demise (I ordered the new turbo on Tuesday evening... SuperZilla died on Wednesday evening!). The seal had been going for awhile, but this was the front bearing letting loose. The shaft had enough play that the compressor blades touched the housing ever so slightly.
Deadbolt is dead (haha), so I'm going to send it off to Blouch to get rebuilt and then sell it.
Complacent sent the link to the new one It's a 62lbs/min turbo that feasts on children and anything else it can get it's hands on!

Re: BluBallz - Sabre's 2004 STI
And I'll probably pick her up on Friday I actually stayed home today (for the first time in... 4/5 years) because I'm not feeling well.
the great news is, the break in is done and the oil filter showed very little particulate, so I'm good to go to tune! The new turbo doesn't require a lengthy break in, so I'll be tuned up and ready for the HPDE!
