very small embedded linux or linux-like devices

I'm looking at very small linux-like devices with the ability to run usb and run off dc 12.6v. the "gumstick linux" crowd of devices. i've seen some SBC's, like the "Bitsy" and its ilk, but it seems kinda large. Ideally, I'd like to be able to support 1-2 PCMCIA II cages, but that's not as important (I can get 3G from a usb device, but I also have a pcmcia device with muuuuuch better reception in places like the woods). It would be nice to be able to support a small display (like 320x240 or smaller even), but I'd be willing to settle for VNC into X running on Linux. Or not at all, I guess, and just serial (most of these devices have DB9).

Oh, and for a bus I was thinking of using these guys: neutrik. They seem to have some great weatherproof fittings.

Anyone got experience working with this type of stuff? This is a vehicular application, but not car-sized. Think 5"x5"x2" as the maximum size, including fuses, power supply, etc.

Also thinking of trying to use dual-power (to have solar cells and power off the motor), but my EE skillz are nowhere near good enough to do that. Is there a COTS product kind of like the ones that let people do that with their homes?

I have a VIA EPIA Mini-ITX (MII 1000) board new in box. It's 6.75" x 6.75" and has everything that you would need. I'd let it go cheap since it's not getting any use from me anyway!

The other option is the VIA EPIA PX10000G

i've always wanted an excuse to order a soekris board, but, too big for your spec. don't have experience with the smaller ones.
