To Snorkus or not to Snorkus?

Post by GeneralGrievous »

I'm assuming most of you out there have completed or at the very least considered this mod. I've found some pretty good faqs/dyi's on forums but figured I'd ask the ALL KNOWING ONES here at DCAWD their takes. I'm cool with keeping the factory airbox (already have a K&N drop in) instead of a short intake if I get pretty much the same result.

I guess I just cant keep my hands to myself (as far as the car is concerned) :P

Ya, it's a 15 minute job and worth doing :) If you get the chance... come to the dyno day and we can do it right there on the spot :) I'll just be standing around watching the cars anyway.

you already know my opinion on the subject. but if you like a quiet car don't do it, not worth it.

If you are refereing to a cold air intake snorkel, here is a DYI I made a little while back. Obviously, we drive two differnt cars but I think that ever turbo car should have one! I have seen temperatures at te MAS drop 40 deg on days where it's 90 deg outside!

Have turbo, will spool.

a 3" PVC elbow will fit right in the WRX factory air box if you remove the rubber seal at the bottom. it's easier to show than to explain but I don't have any pictures. I recommend black PVC to make it look all nice and factory but white PVC is hard to notice if you can't find black. I painted my white pipe to help hide it.

Many thanks....my tab of owed beers grows daily..

Will hopefully get it done before Saturday but who knows....

What do you think about the "snorkus remover" option at Mach V? I guess it just connects the airbox directly to the ram air intake once the silencer is removed...

stop by the dyno day this Saturday and we'll rip that bad boy out. I didn't buy a "remover" and I'm a bit of a perfectionist about how I modify my car. ask Zack.

Yeah, I think Gabe and I are at opposite ends of the spectrum.

And yes Hotsam... thats exactly the piece I meant...

I'm sure I'll do the PVC thing instead, but now on my way to Home Depot I'm rocking the ghetto-fabulous duct tape "gasket/plug" thing...

I think the plug is only $3 from SubyGal (of NASIOC fame) but it's late and I'm lazy. I hope you can make it out so we can meet in person. if not then, then the next HT meet.
