So Subaru's new 4-door coupe...

Is a Legacy...
Seriously though, they extended that D-pillar far further than on the '05-'09 Legacy's. Can't wait to see this with an '08+ style WRX hood scoop.
Its interesting how the trunk extends into the rear bumper. I like the design.
The sad part is, I'm already thinking from experience about how every time you get rear-ended, you'll need the trunk replaced as well.

Gotta disagree. The front and rear are hideous and the silhouette looks a lot like a Maxima. The Maxima profile is not a bad thing, just not that distinctive.

The exhaust ports look like the ones on the SVX. The taillights are MUCH improved. The curves on the hood remind me of an Audi, with a little Acura thrown in. The headlights are pretty nice. Overall, I give it a not bad. I just wonder what the production version will look like (probably something in the middle of what we have now and this). As Alan said, it's not as distinctive as I would have liked.

I'm satisfied its trying to look more like Audis and Acuras instead Mazdas and Fords.
No joke, the most common car people mistake mine for from the rear is the Ford Fusion.
Not that thats a bad thing. Its pretty sleeperish. Despite my customization, I get absolutely no negative attention.
I don't disagree with Alan on the Maxima hood. Though I think the rear was better executed than the TL.
I'm one of the ones that never really cared for the Exiga styling. As long as there is no uglification, generic doesn't bother me.

Lolz. I was just thinking ERROR:
Ford 500 Found.

No offense taken. Here's an even better example:
At first glance, I might have to do a double-take. I have to look at the whees, tail-lights and chrome bumper strip to tell thats the Fusion from this angle.

Only the Germans think so. I use the term sarcastically, though I do think its ironic that Suby cut down the trunk extension by almost a foot on the Legacy at the same time Audi released the A7 concept.

a coupe has 2 doors, no matter what Mercedes tells you.

i didn't see the word coupe any where in the article or press release. i did see the word sedan mentioned a few times. where did you get your title from? are you referring to the joint toyota/subaru vehicle?
i think the car is sexay. but i'm the uncar guy of the crew.

Edit: Subaru's new "4-door coupe" [/sarcarm].... is a Legacy sedan!
Was attempting to poke fun at the fact that its a blatant ripoff of Audi and what Ze Germans call a 4-door coupe.
Despite thinking its a ripoff, I like the car.

Is it just me or did they just elongate and water down the Prodrive P2?

it's just you.

the P2 and the Legacy show car are both cribbing from current German design trends.

I'm still not seeing Audi/MB influences - just a strong Maxima profile. Permit me to demonstrate: Compare the C-pillar and trunk line.
Granted, the headlights and grill are different, though.

I see some Audi in the grill, a LOT of Maxima in every thing else.

Aahhh, now I see it. The current gaping maw of a grill on the Audis. Yes, it does look like that:

I see a Toyota Camry, which, in my eyes, is all the more unfortunate than a Ford 500.
Plus I'm laughing at the "Error Ford 500" joke.

I see some similarities to another german.
The problem is, with the new mandated pedestrian safe raised noses lots of cars will start having similar front facias.

This is why Miatas lost their pop-up headlamps, along with all other cars. It's a huge oxymoron though, since getting hit by 3,000+ lbs. of metal is
never pedestrian-safe.

I am pretty sure reason the miata lost the pop up headlights is mainly b/c you can see worth a @#$@ when the lights pop up (meaning they block your view, not inadequate lighting). My mom has those nice pop up ones

I found that they only impeded upon the first 4-6 feet of road at speed. I got over it pretty quickly.

Looks like this thing's going to be unveiled officially at the New Yourk Auto Show next month.
The new Legacy will take several design cues from its conceptual predecessor shown in Detroit, including yet another nose-job that's likely to filter through to the rest of the Subaru line-up in the coming years.
