cobb or HKS cbe

Post by spazegun2213 »

So i think after all my searching I've narrowed it down, and I have not heard either so I'm calling on you all to... be my ears ?? Either way, I'm looking for a deep rumble idle and a WOT thats not ricey or retartedly loud. I have heard the Hush, and i like that type of sound but I'm set on a single tip.

Also, i hear someone here might fit a flowmaster on an STi?

thanks

The COBB (aka "fancy Stromung") catback will definitely be quieter than the HKS.

So cobb is just selling Stromung labeled as theirs and more expensive?

I know Daddy SCP had some sound clips of the Borla STI (single tip and nice tone like the hush). They also have a sound clip of the "whisper" here.

the Borla is nice and low and not too loud. I like my TurboXS, but it might be just a touch loud inside parking garages and such. I'm running the stock cat and intermediate pipe, Bosal UP and DP.

 there wasn't a cop in that cruiser, Julian...

Yea, I'll be running julians catless DP and a full cat back, so anything will be a little louder than normal ;) I just want to hear that borla before I make any decisions.

AFAIK COBB's design is from Stromung but made it slightly better, put their name on it, and sold it for more...I can find out the exact details for you.

Stromung makes Cobb's exhaust to Cobb's specs. Kind of like how Eibach makes Prodrive springs.

Anyhow, the Cobb (or Stromung, for that matter) exhaust is in a different league than HKS, both in terms of price and quality.

If you want something a little more under the radar, I had a Blitz Nur-Spec Touring edition CBE that was pretty quiet. It's got a resonator in the intermediate pipe so it didn't drone, but was nice when I went WOT. The rear canister is kinda large and it had a 3 or 3.5" tip (think melon shooter) but it wasn't too loud at all.

...if you were looking to further confuse/broaden your choices that is :D

Yea, I think I'm just going to have to wait, and hear all these exhausts... :(
