Why do none of the new video games that ever come out seem to have the same feel? No next-gen game has ever been able to connect with me on a level that the older ones have ever been able to.

I got thinking. What games mean the most to me? I mean everyone says "mario, metal gear, halo" all that bs. But that's not me. When I think back to warm fuzzy game memories... what do I think back to? Here's the list. Feedback and your own lists welcome. I'm curious to see what everyone else thinks. I have a strange game history. My fav ones aren't necessairly well known games. Hopefully this list reminds you of some of your past.

I'm sure I can think of more later and maybe I'll update the list. For now that's it. Just coming up with this list was a warm fuzzy trip down memory lane. So many memories associated with every one of those games. It's amazing how a video game can connect with you that much.

Pong for Atari displayed on a B&W swivel wood case console tv utilizing a crappy 1 watt mono speaker broke my game cherry.

It's not so much a matter of whats "good and bad" either. I mean Blue Stinger was a god awful train-wreck of a game.. but it brings back so many fond memories.

there is no one formula that works. for instance, i never got on board the mmorpg train that's sweeping the globe. i think they suck horse balls (although i'm curious to see how the new star wars game unfolds). however, i'm addicted to fps'es on the pc (not consoles). i can still bust out super metroid or link to the past and be wildly entertained.

You missed the point. That's why I why I was interested in what was other people considered to be good.

you haven't heard about the tf2 mmorpg?

and, yeah, the above are correct. games change, settings change, consoles change. it's sort of like asking you today what you'll be driving in ten or fifteen years (I suppose I played my first video game 25 years ago, give or take; there's no way I could have predicted the things I liked or even was exposed to today).
