I think this is pretty cool and useful: UNIVERSAL DRIVE ADAPTER LINKY DINKY DOO

Image
Digital audio and photo files are growing in use and size to where upgrading to a larger hard drive is becoming a regularly performed procedure. The NewerTech USB 2.0 Universal Drive Adapter makes it easy to transfer data between the old and new drives as well as give the old drive a second life as an external storage solution. It's a complete solution that allows any 2.5", 3.5", or 5.25" hard drive or optical drive* with any standard IDE/ATA/ATAPI 40 pin or SATA interface to be connected via USB to any USB equipped computer for file transfer, backing-up and storing file archives, and accessing date on stored backup drives with Plug & Play ease. The connection status LEDs provide easy confirmation of a proper connection between a USB 1.1/2.0 equipped computer and an IDE/ATA or SATA drive.

* Transfer files!
* Easily access data from internal and external hard drives!
* Give a second life to switched-out hard drives!
* Instantly turn any ATA or SATA drive into a convenient external drive!

At first I thought "meh."
Then I saw the price, $27.50.
Now I'm thinking "Not bad."

I have one or two of those (something just like it) but I'm pretty sure I didn't spend that much for them.

I purchased three of these things for my office and they've been an absolute GODSEND!

If you have multiple hardware platforms, they are worth their weight in GOLD.

AMEN brother! Especially when you're trying to troubleshoot HD connectivity problems or recover a user's data from a dead computer before they peel back the skin from their skull and start shooting fireballs at you from their now skinless cranium all the while screaming "WHERE'S MY EMAIL? I HAVE A MEETING IN 45 MINUTES! HURRY UP YOU STUPID I.T. GUY!".
