I will make my standard pitch than shut-up.
It would be cheaper to just get the car re-flashed than to buy an Accessport (used or otherwise)
If you own a laptop (and who doesn't these days) and can buy or borrow a Tactrix Cable you can buy a Stage 1 or 2 MAP for as little as $52 and reflash the ECU yourself.

drwrx- thanks for the info, that's def. something to consider- though I would still prefer to find an AP. My car is mostly stock now so I would like to flash a stage 1 for the next couple of months until I pass emissions, at which point I'll throw on the DP and go stage 2... and then hopefully a VF turbo sometime down the road. Thanks again!

Stage 2 will pass emissions if done correctly.SubieNOVA wrote:My car is mostly stock now so I would like to flash a stage 1 for the next couple of months until I pass emissions, at which point I'll throw on the DP and go stage 2...

All local emissions tests are done via OBDII. No Codes = Pass. You can hide any codes you want with a re-flash.
If you want to run catless and still pass, a re-flash will work.

You don't say... I have been putting off the DP install for so long for that very reason.drwrx wrote:He speaks the truth.Mr Kleen wrote:Stage 2 will pass emissions if done correctly.

I spent some time reading through the OSECU forums yestarday ever since you planted the tactrix seed in my mind, and that really does seem to be the way to go- esp. for a cheapskate like me. Thanks again for all the info!

I passed emissions with a OS tune on my built engine, so I'm pretty sure anyone can pass!

Good to know!Sabre wrote:I passed emissions with a OS tune on my built engine, so I'm pretty sure anyone can pass!
I have since received the Tactrix cable and am trying to get a few issues ironed out with the car. I briefly tried the free OSECU stage 1 tune and the car didn't like it... IAM values went to 3! I'm fairly certain my stock tune is knocking, maybe due to an exhaust leak near the turbo I found while "seafoaming" the car the other day. Another possibility is that it is perceiving knock from my turbo heat shield (found it is held on by only 2 bolts).
I'm going to have emissions done tomorrow hopefully- it wouldn't test the otherd ay b/c of all the flashing/resetting I've been doing. Hopefully that will be out of the way for 2 years and I can really dig into it
If anyone has any insight for an opensource n00b like me I would greatly appreciate it- I'd be happy to continue the convo elsewhere, as this WTB thread prob. isn't the proper place...
Thanks again!
