Honestly, as much as I love the BBS (especially the 04s) there are better buys to be had, both lighter and less expensive.
The 04 BBS are becoming very rare and pricey.

Yeah and new ones are butt-expensive. I don't want anything that looks TOO custom, but any recommendations for a silver 05? Leaning towards silver wheels. Rota? I don't want anything too 'open' so you can see my lack of brembos. - Phil

Recommendations:

Enkei Racing RPF1 (15 lbs): $225 each (damn light)

Enkei Racing J10 (16.5 lbs): $130 each (light)

Kosei K1 TS (14.5 lbs): $195 each (crazy light)

WedsSport SA-90 (20 lbs): $209 each (pretty)

MB Weapon (18 lbs): $110 each (cheap & pretty and fairly light) look like WedsSport SA-90

MB Mesh X (20.5 lbs): $105 each (really cheap & really pretty)

MB Gear (20 lbs): $125 each (cheap & pretty)

Rota Grid (17.5 lbs): $160 each (cheap & pretty and fairly light)

Rota SDR (18 lbs): $160 each (cheap & pretty and fairly light)

Rota SDX (17 lbs): $165 each (cheap & pretty and light)

Rota Slipstream (20 lbs) $160 each (cheap & pretty)

Rota Tarmac II or Tarmac III (19 lbs): $160 each (cheap & pretty)

Rota G-Force (18 lbs): $160 each (cheap & pretty and fairly light)

Rota SVN (20 lbs) $170 each (cheap & pretty)

Rota Torque (17.5 lbs): $160 each (cheap & pretty and fairly light)

These are based solely on my personal preferences. I stay away from really expensive and really heavy wheels.

RPF1's or SSR's :)

One more choice would be:
Team Dynamics Pro Racing 1 or 1.2 (16 lbs): $150-$175 each (light & cheap & pretty)

As much as I love SSRs, like the Type C-RS, they are crazy expensive (around $400 a pop) and finding 17"s is becoming difficult. I couldn't in good conscience recommend someone paying nearly $2,000 for wheels when you can get an excellent set for nearly one-quarter the price!

P-Tuning can either order or install everything you need.

They have a wonderful set of tire machines, including road-force balancing IIRC.

P-tuning says they can't order Rotas, they get their wheels from Machen? Macken? Any recommendations from where I can order my rotas from and get em shipped to P?

Rota's are great wheels but they're really heavy (and I know, I've rocked a set since the WRX was 2 months old). I'd recommend something lighter for summer use and Rota's for winter/pothole season.

Subydude is a good vendor and has a large selection of Rota wheels. I also think Mach V carries them if you're looking for a local vendor.

PTuning rocks, I get everything I can from them. good people deserve to be supported.

Not all Rotas are heavy:
Any 17" wheel 18 lbs. or under is pretty light, and Rota makes a number that are.
SubZero: 16.4 lbs
Grid 17.5 lbs:
SDR 18 lbs:
SDX 17 lbs:
G-Force 18 lbs:
Torque 17.5 lbs
All these are 17" x 7.5" if you get the 17" x 8" expect them to weigh another half pound or more per wheel.

If it's all about price, pick the Rotas you want then do an exhaustive on-line search and you may find a screaming deal.
Some time ago I was looking to get a set of Grids and found a wheel site that dealt mostly with Hondas and Miatas but they carried Grids for $150 less per set than any other vendor I could find. It was like getting a wheel for free.

However, Subydude does carry some that few other places carriy (SDX are a good example).

In the end, you makes your choice and you spends your money.

4 Rota Tarmac! Excelent Condition Good Tires $500

The wheels are gun metal, the tires are Sumitomo HTRZ II

Not a bad deal for $500

I do want to say one thing about wheel weight; I'm a bit of a weight weenie when it comes to wheels, however, knit-picking over a pound or two isn't worthwhile when you consider your going to strap on a set of tires that are likely to be around 25 lbs each. So now the two pounds you sweat so much about is nearly meaningless.

Example:
20 lb wheel (at $105) vs 16 lb wheel (at $250) = 25% weight increase (but a $580 savings, free tires mounted and balanced)
20 lb wheel (at $105) + 25 lb tire (45lbs) vs 16 lb wheel (at $275) + 25 lb tire (41 lbs) = less than 10% weight increase.
And your still paying the extra $580.
