Church of the Holy Donut - 04-May-2008
I've known about this gathering of car enthusiasts in Burtonsville for some time now. But since the shopping center they gather at is going to be torn down and re-built starting this summer, I felt I needed to stop by before they took the informal gathering elsewhere.
So I dragged myself out of bed on a Sunday morning and snapped a whole mess of pics just for you gearheads. There's even a couple motorcycles in there, too...
First up, some intro shots:
Now for the cars. First, a rat rod:
A Lotus with a Suzuki engine (couldn't tell if it's a kit car or not - but the "historic" license plate may mean that it's original?)
New and old cars were there - such as this Ford GT:
An Avanti:
A couple Vipers - a GTS and an R/T-10:
A Corvair:
Ferrari's old and new (that's a 330 and a white Testarosa in addition to the new one):
Since ImageShack is taking forever to upload these and I've gotta get to a soccer game, I'll post the rest later. Enjoy for now!

Oh, yes! The construction isn't supposed to start until mid-June and these guys meet every Sunday morning (weather permitting). It's not a formal gathering or anything so you can usually see any number and kind of car there. The shopping center is located at the junction of routes 29 and 198 in Burtonsville, MD. Might be a bit of a hike for the VA folk on a Sunday morning but you're all more than welcome to come up.Mr Kleen wrote:any more meets before they move?

Some sort of heavy duty Chevy truck:
Four low riders (three I know are Impalas but the fourth I wasn't sure about):
An honest to goodness Cayman:
A Cobra (could be a kit):
A Ducati 999:
Well, ImageShack is slowing down again so I'll stop there for today. Here's a sneak peak at what's left ... a Triumph TR6 (as well as a classic Triumph motorcycle), a GTO and quite a few classic Camaros and Stingrays.

More pics (sorry they're so late)...
A Triumph TR6:
An old Volvo (didn't see the model name/number):
An old Ford (again, my knowledge of old cars is seriously lacking):
A GTO:
Here's the old Triumph Tiger 750:
I have more pics but that'll have to do for now. Just let me know when you all want to come on up. We could do a breakfast somewhere nearby, too.

Re: Church of the Holy Donut - 04-May-2008
what's the weather forecast for Sunday? if it turns out to be nice I'll plan on meeting up for breakfast and autos.
edit: so far Sunday's forecast looks good - mostly cloudy, highs in the upper 60's.

Sorry for the late notice but I'll be heading up to this meet tomorrow morning (20-JUL-2008). I'll probably get there around 8 or 8:30 but I believe most people stay until about 11. If anyone wants to join me you are more than welcome.

Re: Church of the Holy Donut - 04-May-2008
Not a problem. Here's a few shots to liven up your morning...
First a few overviews:
A row of Vettes, a pair of Cobras and an old Shelby Cobra Mustang:
(I love the license plate on this one)
A whole host of Brits...
A Triumph Spitfire 1500
Sunbeam Tiger
A very confused Brit - is a Jag still a Jag when it's got a Chevy small block in it?
Another Ford GT:
A pink Cadillac convertible complete with pink fuzzy dice and pink golf club bag:
Smoky and the Bandit made an appearance:
Misc:
Some rat rods:
They even had a car-b-que:
I don't know what the hell this is:
Some serious drag racers:
What's this in the rear tail light?
And some bikes thrown in for good measure:

Re: Church of the Holy Donut - 04-May-2008
I dropped by the Church of the Holy Donut again this morning. Didn't bring my camera but wish I had when I spotted these 7 Lotus Elise's (some looked track-prepped) next to a Ford GT and a Dodge Viper R/T-10.
It was around 9am and there were still a lot of cars heading into the parking lot. When I was leaving I saw a new Challenger SRT-8 heading in.
