I have decided that what's left of my cash could go the way of a turbo. Im gonna take Darren's advice and just go with a VF turbo and cheap IC as I can just get a free Cobb map to hold me over. So if any of you guys want to help a guy out let me know. Also Darren what should I expect to pay?

Depending on the condition, the used VF39s go for $250-$400. I would recommend getting one w/ less than 20k miles and no shaft play. Make sure that all the lines are included as well. Loved my last VF39. Can't wait to get my 18G on. Good luck!

Yeah, Ben! You really need that TS FullRace 30/35R setup!

Watch the NASIOC "for sale" boards like a hawk!
However, I wouldn't spend more than $450 on any used vf series turbo if it were me.
If your willing to put in a liitle extra work you can get a new TD05-16G "oil cooled only" for $499!
Look here:

It requires re-routing the coolant line that would run to the turbo down back into the block.
I run a similar set-up on my WRX (Greddy TZ18G).
You just need to remember to let the car idle a bit before shutting it off (or install a turbo timer like me).
You can also get a new TD05-16G for $650 from ForcedPerformance:

You can easily find a VF39 for $350 used. That is what I got my last two for.

Honestly, I think $300 is a bit steep, especially given that "pieced together" pipe may not hold pressure. Which menas you would likely have to pay another $50-$100 to get the correct hoses.
I understand the desire to get the STi TMIC, but if your paying much more than the $200 you can get the SSautochrome TMIC for new, than it's probably not worth it.
Closer to $200 and I'd say go for it.

How much do the SS Autochrome TMICs go for?

$190

it's at the bottom of the page.
I would call to make sure you get the hoses with it.

Darren would this SSAC IC be an issue to run before I got a VF turbo?

nope. I have a stock turbo and run an AVO TMIC and that thing is huge. no lag issues, but no increase in power either.

He didn't like my offer and is firm on price so it looks like that SSAC might be my ticket. So who is running one. Fitment issues???

Without a proper tune there will be no (noticeable) gain from the addition of a bigger TMIC. Ideally it should cool the intake air a bit better and won't heat soak as fast. Most of the data I've seen indicate that larger TMICs add about 8-14 whp with a proper tune. The benefit of a larger IC is that it allows you to get the most out of a larger turbo.
And for the record that AVO TMIC is probably the best I've ever seen. In hindsight I should have never sold it. Great quality, great fitment, great everything!

Darren a VF43 w/ 6k miles just came up on MAIC for $450. What do you think? I sent him a feeler at $400.

I'd grab that in an instant, $450 isn't too bad a price.
I actually like the vf43 more than the vf39. It appears to make a bit more power (just a bit), and doesnt appear to have the cracked housing problems.

VF43 does have the crack issue but I thought the only difference was the slightly larger internal wastegate that helps w/ creep? I would definitely grab one for $400-450 if only 6k miles and no problems.

Quick question for you guys. Im getting a good deal on a used 07 STI IC w. 6k miles on it. It comes with the STI's piping and coupler. Will this fit directly or do I need to pick anything else up.

I don't think the inlet hose won't fit to the stock TD04. I think it's too short IIRC. But you can get a 90 degree elbow from MachV for $20 that will fit. You will likely have to trim it a bit as it will be too long.
