Giving DCAWD First Dibs... my Gold 04 BBS's

Post by Idaho »

Well, got a good price on some 18" O.Z.'s that i'll be picking up as soon as I get back from Florida so now my BBS's are up for sale.

I don't have any pics being i'm in Florida, but those that have seen them at meets have some idea of their condition, particularly Dr. WRX who saw them up close.

Would make great track wheels. One is re-finished and looks great, one is pretty good looking, and 2 have some rash with one having a very minor lip bend that doesn't affect anything at all.

The tires on them are done, but I do have some brand new Riken (made by Michilin) "Raptor ZR" sitting in my living room with the stickers still on them. The tire is a summer high performance tire.

So, looking to get 900 for the combo of wheels and brand new tires. I wouldn't be able to give them to you until I get back from Florida though which will be around the 6th of March!

If you don't like the 900 price, I'll keep other offers in mind.

Could trade for some parts...

Wheels and tires? No. Anything in a 45 profile 17 doesn't work for me. I need a 50 profile in a 17 inch wheel. Especially if the wheels might need some repair/refurbishing. I don't need one set, let alone two.

If you are willing to separate the wheels from the new tires and sell separately, awesome.

If not, I also know that eventually someone will buy them even with the tires. Your market is only every single Subaru except the 05+ STi.

Good luck with the sale. They are beautiful wheels for sure.

I really appreciate the post here. Way cool of you man. 8)

Complacent, of course I'll hook my DCAWD brothers up! I prefer selling to people I know from meets vs. Random Joe Shmoe on NASIOC....

Anyways, wheels sold!

So, 300 for tires....?

As stated before, Riken (made by michilin) "Raptor ZR" STI OEM size tires with the stickers still on them!

Nope, didn't post on NASIOC! I only wanted to post here to hook the DCAWD guys up!

Well, lucky Mr. "Gabe" Kleen has taken the wheels and currently the tires are pending to a fellar from VA beach.

Thanks!

Congrats Gabe!

Now, about tires, talk to Zak and see how he like his HTR-Z IIIs so far.

I wasn't terribly impressed with the HTR-Z IIIs. I had a set on my WRX and the maximum grip in the dry was not what I had hoped for. They were "okay" at best IIRC.

But then again, it's been a few years now. Perhaps they've improved.

You had the HTR-ZIIs, a very average performer in dry and a poor performer in wet.

The HTR-Z III just came out in middle of 2007.

It is a completely new Max Performance Summer tire and was tested by Tire Rack against the The Potenza RE050A Pole Position, Continental ContiSportContact 3 and Yokohama ADVAN Sport (all excellent tires) and it got the highest rating. It had the fastest dry lap time and the highest dry lateral grip. It was also more than $30 cheaper per tire than the next best (Potenza RE050A) and over $65 cheaper than the other two.

If I was on the market for new summer tires, these would be on the top of my list.

Then I'd be willing to say that they've improved since then... ;) Good to know and thanks.

(I'm still considering 615s or something similar. I wish Kumho made their stickys in my size :( )

They may be a bit of a step down for you in dry, since you are running on the Yokohama ADVAN Neovas, which are one of the highest rated dry street tires you can buy. It was the top performing dry tire in Car & Drivers test of 11 Max Performance Summer Tires. It ended up in 3rd over all.

The HTR-Z IIIs would likely be a step up in wet performance over the neovas though, and will save you a ton of cash, $97 vs. $268 per tire.

Agreed. Neovas are amazing in the dry, but man do you pay for it.

Looks like Sumi's are only about $10-20 cheaper than the 615s.

Hmmmm... Decisions, decisions.

What size are you thinking for the Forester?

I was thinking of going Falken Ziex Ze 912 235/50/17 for $89.

If your looking for a great Ultra High Performance tire I'd go with the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval 235/50/17 for $137 or save some cash and get the Yokohama S.drive for $126.

I already bought Tarmac IIIs in 18x8, so I'm stuck paying $texas for tires period.

I take that back, some can be had for ~$100/corner.

I'm trying to decide if I should go middle of the road and do Azenis/RE01/Exta/etc or go whole hog like Julian and get a set of neovas.

Having two sets (three currently) of wheels and tires makes it a little easier. The decision will definitely be a summer only tire.

I just have to decide if it's going to be $texas or "just" $Wyoming.

Exactly what I was thinking :) I LOVE my Neovas, but damn does it hurt the wallet every other year!
