I found this link online... This is the EXACT same kit as the TXS kit, but minus a reducer clamp and a BOV. I think this may very well be the steal of the year. I ordered one today, I'll post up when I receive it to make sure all is legit. Either way, you should check it out because of the price. $450.00 SHIPPED. Eek!

Anything has got to be better than their exhaust manifold. Since they just copied this design instead of making one up for themselves, it looks really nice.

I realize they are not known for their reliability... But an intercooler core is a pretty straightforward thing (i.e. hard to mess up). I figure if nothing else I can rip the kit to pieces and let everyone know if it was worth 450.00 or not. I'm okay with being the test case this time. And if it ends up being a decent kit, well then that's a helluva bargain, yea?

It looks like the only parts I need to complete the kit are a conical air filter, a 2.75" to 2.5" reducer and a BOV. Figure shopping smartly we're talking ~$100.00. Total cost = $550.00 Shipped. Hmmm, let's hope this thing holds pressure

i would pressure test it before, your right, it is hard to f up an IC core, unless you can't weld worth a shit, then it is pretty easy

Well, so far the kit looks to be well worth the price. The welds look pretty decent and the core looks to be well fabricated. We'll soon see if the design / craftmanship of the piping is the weak spot. The real proof will be if piping all fits or if it will require cutting and welding to fit.

You might want to consider painting the pipes with some heat resistant paint (i.e. buy another $20 worth of black satin when you get it for your headers). That will help reduce any heat from the engine bay seeping into the piping.

That core is pretty damn big at 906 c.u. There are few that exceed that size and none that come close for that price.
APS 725 FMIC: 1,190 c.u. ($1,500)
Perrin FMIC: 906 c.u. ($1,300) these two are the exact same size.
TurboXS FMIC: 790 c.u. ($1,100) if you hunt you can find them for less
Greddy FMIC: 692 C.U. ($875)

One of my buddies bought an ssautochrome FMIC kit for his SR20 and it works like a dream. He also bought an exhaust from them and it fit perfictly.
The reason he bought alot of ssautochrome was because it was his "budget"
car. But it all worked out fine and there was no leaks in the core.
