Yep that is pretty cheap. Dunno about the blow odd valve but if it's in good condition good deal :)

That's a pretty good deal. You'll *need* to pickup a JDM bumper beam, as you'll *not* want to hack the USDM beam to get that puppy to fit. IIRC, the piping run for the compressor side runs down low, so anyone interested might want to scan the webz for some installation photos.

Biggest issue I have is the core size:
23.5" x 9.5" x 3"=634.5 cubic inches.
While not exactly small it is smaller than an ebay TMIC:
20" x 7.5" x 4.5"
volume=675 cubic inches.

And when it comes down to ICs size really does matter. And unless it's cheaper than $150, I don't think it's worth it. Phibs' ride is a good example that you don't need a big FMIC to make big power.

Heatsoak is why the FMIC is far superior to the TMIC. I have gone through both, and the FMIC is the way to go. Also, the Ebay TMIC is a pain to install and many people have broken their A/C line with it.

Dang it, I just noticed the date. Did you get it?

Nah, I had been fmiced for a while. Just a real cheap price I thought I would show.

There are some good parts to a FMIC, but some bad as well, so I don't think it is cut and dry.

Darin has a good setup going with his TMIC and intercooler sprayer. He has quicker throttle response, gets to keep his bumper beam, and look stock. Plus, it is much easier to put a FMIC back to stock than it is to put the pieces of the bumper back together...But yeah, I have a FMIC.

FMIC PROS
  • -Can flow more than a TMIC
    -Great reduction in heat soak
-Looks cool on the front of the car
-Frees up room in the engine bay

FMIC CONS

  • -Tuning is tricky and sometimes nearly impossible (depending on application)
-FMIC gets destroy in front fender bender and can inhibit getting home safely after
    -Increased lag
    -Can be pricey
    -Harder to install versus TMIC
    -Harder to find leak
I am sure there are more for both lists.
