Yeah this time the consumers are even more screwed. The only option I see is for every player to support both, and right now that costs $1000. Fail.

yes true that is an option, but I'd like to have some closure to the HD war before I turn 40

I harbor a certain dark wish to see both formats fail and this third option take off. Sort of a "serves you right", karma-type situation.
Of course that's not going to happen, but I still can have my fantasy...

Just buy a ridiculously cheap HD player during a crazed closeout sale...managed to get a Toshiba HD A2 player for $89

and picked up a Sony blue ray for pretty decent price...just get both!
