Tokyo Motor Show: Subaru WRX STI debut
Autoblog wrote:We've gone from being disappointed by the new Impreza, to pleasantly surprised by the WRX, to smitten by the STI. It looked OK in silver as the dust sheet came off, but stunning in metallic black on the Subaru stand?'s floor. The new STI?'s exterior details that set it apart from lesser siblings do not appear to be afterthoughts tacked on to a standard family car, but rather the way the family car was supposed to look in the first place.
glad
they like it.

Love the new scoop that's for sure! Interior not too shabby either, nav as an option is kinda cool as well. Overall I think it's growing on me too!

it's better looking than the WRX, but it's more expensive than the WRX. the new wheels aren't quite as nice but they aren't bad; the front grill and tail lights are better but still need work; the integrated hood scoop looks great; the seats look good.
I'm interested in the street price once the "OMG NEW BODY STYLE" frenzy wears off.
it feels like the WRX was a victim of it's own success. 40% of Impreza sales were the WRX model. Subaru wanted to make more space between the WRX and STi so the WRX got punished with Corolla fenders.

I'll have to admit it's starting to grow on me too. Albeit like a malignant tumor, nevertheless, it's growing on me.

Well IWSTI members have begun to test-drive the car. So far it's been getting GREAT reviews. Lighter steering, more stable ride, still has the same planted feel, better layout inside.

I dig it, but I'm not quite sure if the word "STI" appears in enough places on the interior...

I concur...I especially like the new black calipers...anyone know that they are still Brembo or not? I am guessing not since "Brembo" isn't on it anymore.

In case you were to forget, I don't think there's an angle for which there aren't at least 3 reminders what car it is.

They had to do that in case you forget what you're driving since the car doesn't look like an STi should.

meh. i'm happy with it. it's the jdm/world model. what we get is still gonna be a little different in some kind of lame way. this sti is still powered by the 2 liter. but now it is drive by wire like ours. should make hybrid swaps into usdm sti's easier now.

And vice versa if the Japanese want a larger engine.
