First post for me, but i was glad to see you guys had a rally forum! El Mirage is a dry lakebed in the California desert. My rallyx in Nevada was canceled so I met up with a bunch of fellow Subaru owners and had some fun of our own! I didnt get many action shots, but heres my photos.
Despite how it looks here, the STi was actually pretty dirty before going out. It definitely got way dirtier...
It rained like crazy going through the pass to the desert, we called loren and he said he was at El Mirage and it was dry! I couldnt figure out how it was going to clear up so quick, but it totally did. On the way in, we saw an insane rainbow where you could see both ends touching the ground. The coolest part is that one end was actually on the ground on or near the dry lakebed.
The first pack of subies cutting across the lakebed to the far end. I got some pretty cool dashcam video of this, i hope it came out...
Basecamp getting setup.
Pedro and his buddies from Bakersfield
More subies...
The jackson brothers, paul made it out too...
An unfortunate unmounting of msgsti217's rear tire. It looked pretty bad here, but we manged to get it at least close to being remounted... nice work guys...
I just liked this shot... the sweeping line he took.. and of course my suby helpin out with a jack. Everyone lent a hand, and well... lots of funny suggestions. Jumping on the tire seemed to work best.
The rest of the day i spent shooting video (not nearly enough though). so i took some snapshots at home. Camera doesnt to justice to how streaky and grimey this car was. It "half" rained on us as we drove home, smearing the lakebed silt all over...
Pretty much sums it up! DI REPRESENT!
video to come soon...
Some fun out in the California desert *Pics*

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.
