I'm throwing this out as a heads-up. If anyone comes across a cheap, and I mean cheap, laptop let me know. I'm going to be using it for tuning.

It's cheap, but needs a battery. Not sure how cheaply that can be done.

The craigslist post is already removed.
Laptops are one of the few things I will not get used off ebay.
I might just be paranoid, but I'm just a bit gun shy when it comes to that.

Well I've done it in the past without a problem. Just make sure it comes with an install disk unless your going to put your own OS on it. Oh! Also, use something like
DBANor
BCwipePDas soon you get it regardless of where you get it from just clear off whatever it's previous owner did to it.

90 day warranty from the auction company and I've purchased quite a few things there and been satisfied. Up to you though, doesn't make a difference to me.

Probably a little tardy to the party on this one, but back at Christmas I had luck finding refurbished Thinkpads for around $300.

Eh the one I recommended is about $300 and a lot newer / less likely to flake/die but that is a good deal local.

I'm hurt. It came from me, so it has to be special.

All sarcasm aside, it's awesome! I couldn't be happier with it, or the fine individual who so generously who gave it to me.
