Helio Ocean: now with 100% more "push" email

when I checked my Helio email account from my Ocean today it asked if I wanted to enable new email alerts. SWEET! I enabled the alerts and tested. sure enough, I now get new email alerts on the phone. that's a big step forward for the Ocean.
now if they will only get the full exchange integration software finished so the calendar is actually useful...

My dad just got one of those thing and he's loving it. But then again his last phone was an N-Gage.

what type of email account is the helio? Is it IMAP, POP, WTF, FUBAR?
(pretty cool, but I'd like to read about it some more. )

you can access your helio account via interwebs or helio phone. you get a "free" address with each phone.
they're supposed to be working on "push" email for all accounts (generic POP3, Gmail, Yahoo, MS) and enterprise sync (email, calendar, tasks, contacts). rumor is "sometime this fall."

what I
really want is a way to sync my personal Outlook calendar to the Ocean. I'm not looking forward to setting up my own Exchange Server and then being forced to pay $10 a month to access it.

My answer (what I'm doing), is dump Outlook Calendar and move to Google Calendar, access it through the web browser...

been thinking about doing that myself. but my Ocean browser, she is not so good.

Works fine on my Ocean browser.
Yea, its not the same as through FF or IE, but gets the job done. And really, how busy is your calendar?

I've been using
Gcalsync lately. It's pretty rough, but works okay. Also check out their
Google Group. Lossa info there, as well as newer betas.
<---Using beta 1.3. It gets the jerb done, but isn't pretty.
