Kind of a strange request (tires)

Does anyone know where i can get my hands on two very cheap 17in tires? I need something to just hold me over for a few more weeks so if anyone is just looking to get rid of a used pair... even if there is very little tread left.. i'd be willing to talk. Even if they are crap it'd be better than what I have. The banding on my rear tires is starting to peak through and they're already slicks. I should just buy 4 new tires but I just can't justify it since I plan to be getting rid of this car shortly so if I can just find a used set to hold me over for the short time I'll do that.

I wouldn't recommend driving your suby on mismatched circumference tires...very bad for diffs.
And last I heard you still had your RS which is AWD.

I have some 225/45-17 Khumo tires that are not leagal in VA anymore. They are not slick as you can still see the indentations where tread used to be.
I had these on the car with nutty camber, so the inside shoulders are much more worn than the rest of the pattern.
Shipping would be a chunk of change though.

you might as well hit up a local junkyard and score 4 tires off another subie. cheaper and safer than running mismatched tires.

i've been running on mismatched tires for a while now (rear/front) ever since i had the front puncture and couldnt afford all 4 tires. i'd prefer to get just 4 matching tires brand new but it's only for a little bit longer. good idea about the junkyard.
I'm considering just putting the stock rims/tires back on for now to be safe even though i loathe those tires (all seasons... they feel like total crap in any season)

If you are trading in you would get the price knocked down because of the bald tires. If you are selling private party would you want to buy a car that the owner did not care enough to put tires on it? What else did the owner skimp on with the car?
Not saying you don't take care of the car just saying what goes thru a buyers mind when looking at that.
I would just buy 4 cheap new tires.

point taken about the sale. no offense taken either. the reason that i haven't gotten 4 new tires yet is because i burn through them at a frightening rate. spirited back-roads driving around here tears up my tires. if i had my way i'd be changing them out every few weeks but my bank account just couldn't keep up with the war going on between my tires and the rough abrasive roads.
maybe i'll just sell a snowboard and use that money to fund a new pair of shoes. tires are really an area where i shouldn't skimp out on. besides I can reuse these on the next car. (GC8)

Easy fix: Stop doing the spirited back road driving!

screw it. I'm buying new tires tonight. Any recommendations on a decent 17" summer tire for my prodrive p7s? don't want to break the bank on this so i'm looking for something in between cost and quality. If anyone has any recommendations I'm all ears! I'll check back before I leave this afternoon. I plan to just run to a local tire place (Most likely NTB) and get them installed today since I'm rather concerned about a blow-out so it also depends on what they have in stock.

Kumho ECSTA SPT. Great summer tire and cheap. Get the ECSTA ASX if you want a performance all-season. Same reasons: great tire and cheap.
As an alternate for summer performance tires, you might want to check out the General Exclaim UHP. Tire Rack ranked it as best in category. And for 17's, you'll pay around $75-80 each (plus shipping, etc.). That's not bad in my book.

ended up with a set of
Yokohama AVS ES100s. So far I really do like them! Feel great.. but at around $800 final pricetag though.. a bit more expensive than I planned.

Don't wear these out so fast so you'll have "new tires" for the trade/sell!!!!

$800? yikes. if your car is short-term only at this point, you shoulda bought some cheaper ones, like falken ziex ze-512's. hopefully this will help resale value, cuz you know... damn.

I don't mean to be a jerk and I'm sorry to be late to this thread but, the AVS ES100s are some of the poorest wet tires you can get. They are very good dry tires however.
I hate to say it but they are an old tread design and have out-lived their value. There are much better tires that will out peform them in every category for less money. The Kuhmo SPTs, AVON tech 500s, Fuzion ZRIs and Falken RT 615s are all great examples.
I also have a set of 225/45 17 Falken ZE 512s I would sell cheap.
They probably have another year's worth of tread on them.

I was just driving in rain storm the other night and they were perfectly fine in the bends. Didn't feel any traction loss whatsoever. Did some more agressive driving late at night on some of the roads around here and nothing. (and i was TRYING to break them loose just to see how they indeed were in the wet). Not sure why some people say they are horrible as soon as they get wet. My buddy at acura ran a set on his monte carlo for I believe 2 years and never had any complaints. He strongly advised i do NOT get kumhos. His customers get them and apparently they are prone to excessive vibration, uneven tread-wear, as well as other problems.
Anyways the logic behind this was... this car is being sold with the stock rims on em. I'm keeping these ones for the GC8. (it sounds kind of odd to be going backwards but there is a reason and a logic behind it. more on that later though)

You're buying a four-door <2001

you know i almost said GM6 but i figured i might as well call it what everyone else does. shouldn't have made that mistake! But yes.. there might be a pre-bugeye impreza in my future along with an STi... it's alot of money being thrown around so things are progressing slowly as I check and double check to make sure the plan will suceed and won't end up with me being pwnd by money

yes. my friends think im an idiot for willing to put so much money into vehicles... i can't help it. I don't like sports.. im not very into hanging out with large groups of people. Cars are my thing. They provide excitement, time to be alone, and are definitely a conversation piece. I have no problem dropping down a large portion of my money for that thrill and fun. Honestly if I had the cash I'd like to own an 01 RS, 03 WRX, and 05 STi... sort of my own personal collection of the history of the USDM impreza. however i'm not rich. ross has been a saint to keep the lines of communication open with me as I attempt to smooth my life out so I can purchase his ride.
