It looks like a Maserati and an Aston had a collision, but I like it nonetheless.

I the design is alright although I can't help but feel that it looks a bit stretched. I need to see some power specs for this thing.

oh my god, is that sexy. and it's a four door!! i've always loved those enormous coupes like the merc CL's (not CLS) and we're finally starting to see sedans that have looks just as aggressive as those coupes. mmmmmmm. put the M5/M6 powerplant in that sucker and sign me up for two! :D

"That's a big bitch!" Very sexy, but damn that sucker is big!

Not sure I like the center console, but the rest of it has some damn good lines :)

More hi-res pics and a longer write up. Still no specs though.

Yeah it looks like everything is just barely out of reach.

EXTERIOR: Aside from not liking the pig looking front, the rest is good.

INTERIOR:Definitely straying away from the BMW norm...and if that interior makes it to production exactly the way it is, I will be very surprised...not sure I like the feel of the interior, either.

it doesn't really matter what the performance of this BMW is, as almost nobody in this club will be able to afford it. if it gets the green light it will be powerful and it will cost over $100k.

sorry for the reality injection... :|

edit: didn't realize Richy Rich was a member.
but I'll stick to my dissertation that if it makes production it will be plenty powerful for a GT.

Duhr.. Please to speaking for self. I've been waffling between an M5 and a Z06 for a while now. The real difficulty is justifying the second set of wheels, not the cost for the car. While I'd really love to be able to tear up GW Pkwy with 500+hp, I just can't get over the fact I've got a car already, and don't drive enough to need another set of wheels (we're averaging about 12,000 miles a year. with two cars, we might get up to 14,000 miles a year, and at least 10,000 of that would still be on the STI).

With BMW's in particular, leasing is a very attractive offer. I can put together an M5 on a three-year lease for less than $1,000 a month. Bumping up the cost of the car from $93k (M5) to $115k (M6) makes less of a difference in a lease payment than you'd think.

Now, the one I really want is way out of my price range: The LP640. But I like to think I'll eventually be able to own one (used Diablos are definitely getting into "reachable" range).

disclaimer: DINKs.

No... just priorities, man. I really don't make all that much money. But, between Sandy and I, and our living expenses being low, we just apportion our money into other places. We had been saving a ton of money to buy a house this year, but part of the lending market exploded, and the market is on its way down, and we're moving to Taiwan, where I can't buy a house (on account of not being a citizen).

Have you ever wondered whether it would be easier to get a 5-year loan for a $130,000 car or a 30-year loan for a $500,000 house? In my experience, it's a lot easier to get the former than the latter, provided the same up-front cash.

It's just priorities. No kids, two jobs, don't own a home. Sure, we piss away $1,600 a month on rent (which is not especially bad). But there's room after rent for an STI and an M5. I remember an ad a couple years ago for the first round of SLK55's (not SL55!): "Anyone with a household income of $75,000 a year should be able to afford one."

Sandy and I, thankfully, both make more than $37,500. In fact, I just did some back-of-envelope math. If we grossed $100,000 between the two of us (this is reasonable, right? for what it's worth, I teach, and Sandy manages the Apple Store at Clarendon. Neither of us is a CxO.), our take-home is on the order of $65,000. With an M5 and an STI and rent, we're still left with $20,000 a year, after tax, for things like living expenses.

Priorities! Do you want kids, an enormous house, or a Lamborghini? Many of us only get to choose two of the above. :) And, I know my Lamborghini is never going to look me in the face, give me the finger, and insist I'm being a fascist. (like I did to my dad!)

Did I just hijack a thread? :o le Arrrrrrrrrr.

Wow, I typically do 3 times the amount of driving as Avriette on a fraction of the income. He's right about priorities :P

Yes! She can! She's always trying to sell me a computer (note: I have a very cheap mac.). It would be nice if she could sell you guys one instead. :D
