New addition to the drwrx and DCAWD family!

Well, the wife and I have been married for over 5 years now and we decided to take the next step.

Yep, we bought her a Forester XT!

We picked her up last night. It's a Black, 2004 with 25,600 miles for $17,750. With the exception of some sratches on the exterior she's in great shape.

Attached are a couple of shots I took this morning:

This also answers the question of "What am I going to do with that clipped and ported vf22 I have?"

My plans for the Forester are actually quite mild. Turbo, boost gauge, short shifter, (all of which I already have), headers, up-pipe, down-pipe, cat-back, Big TMIC, wheels and tires. I'm hoping for 300whp / 320ftlbs for very little out of pocket.

Congrats Darrin and Jamie! Now the question begs, which one of those sweet rides will you be bringing to meets!

Let me know when you want to start the installs :)

I need some o2, a reflash, 18 psi with load site timing advance, and an AFR reading, STAT!

Yes, that does create a bit of tension in the family, but any new addition will do that.

Oh, your on the list, it's kinda like a baby shower invite.
I also figured I was doing my part for our group since so many of us are done or close to finishing up our project cars: you, me, Zak, Colin, etc.

I'm trying to decide wether to do it a piece at a time or just do one big install day and get everything put on at once. I'll now be lurking on the "for sale" boards for cheap used parts (headers, down-pipe, cat-back, TMIC). Let me know if you see anything.

Awesome! And black has to be the best color for Foresters too.

I do have my stock STI TMIC and headers.... ;)

Actually, I have a spare top-mount, for that matter!

I'd deffinately be interested in the TMIC! How much?
I'm thinking I might grab some gruppe-s headers ($379).
Or just keep my eyes open for a used set of borla, GT spec, etc.

Stock WRX tmic right, so do I. The stock FXT isn't that much smaller than the stock WRX.

Stock WRX: 16" x 6" x 3" = 288

Stock FXT: 18.5" x 4.5" x 3" = 250

STi: 18.5" x 7.25 x 3" = 402

You know the drill ;) Look up what they are going for, take off a DCAWD discount and they are yours :)

Since this is my wife's, she'll have to name her.

Might happen to have a spare STi OEM catback laying around in my garage. Not exactly mine but I could probably get the owner to sell it if you ever want to go that route

That's awesome!

Congrats to both of you!!

So, where are the mods? I think I read something about a COBB turboback somewhere...

are the flow/efficiency characteristics of the core the same? and the inlet/outlet diameter?

Well now, that is good news.

I think your up-pipe will be finding a new home, besides the back of my trunk.

If you are looking at a solid header-up pipe combo (LGT experience not withstanding, since you have more room), I picked up a brand new SS one for cheap at $320. Yours for the low low price of $280 + my help installing it. $260 without my help... just kidding, but seriously, kinda.

Haha...Jason will still be the only forester that is still a virgin when it comes to mods...haha

Yeah, best bet for you VF39, STi uppipe, STi TMIC, STi axleback (sti intermediate pipe is the same diameter as the stock XT intermediate pipe but the sti one is just a hair louder from a slightly smaller resonator). You can run a stock '04 STi ECU as well and not need any tuning from another EM.

Funny thing is I am actually going back to the STI TMIC later today. My FMIC was overkill for my VF39 and is going to a good home...my buddy Frank's '04 XT w/ FPGreen and meth...looking to get 400WHP+ for him. I am fine w/ right around 300WHP.

The STi TMIC flows better than the stock WRX TMIC. You can get them for around $250 w/ all the goodies...sometimes lucky enough to get one that comes w/ an STi BPV already...but a WRX BPV works too.

Yeah, just stop over at www.subaruforester.org and www.scoobymods.com for a plethora of useful info...oh and congrats on the new wagon.

Yep, the short shifter went on in less than 24 hours of getting it home. So she's officially not a mod virgin.

I have a clipped and ported vf22 that is just waiting to be installed. As well as an gutted up-pipe and a 3" mid-pipe that just needs an axle-back section. I could even get away with a 2.5" alle-back as the flange is narrow. I checked it out already and it will work.

I figure 300 whp is what I'm shooting for as well. vf22, TBE, Headers, Up-pipe, STi TMIC and a good tune should do it. I will be using it as my Guinea pig for learning ECUflash or Enginuity. I also have a spare boost gauge and a set of 17" wheels that will find their way on it as well.

Well Julian, I guess we have our price. Does that work for you?

I've been a lurker on the subaruforester.org boards for about a year now, and have been a subscriber and contributer to scoobymods.com for almost five years. I have everything "mapped out" for my destination. I will just need to prepare properly for the voyage. Who's up for a power trip?

Sounds good to me :) BTW, I totally forgot about the intake... will that work for the Forester or the Wag?

It should work on the wagon, I haven't even tried to install it yet, I want to fab some sort of braket for it so that it is a mounted a bit more stable.
