Ouch!!!! I curbed my Prodrive P7s a while back. thankfully those things are insanely strong so it only chipped a chunk off and dint bend em so i could still use them.. but its one of those things most of us can probably relate to

Well, I was trying to go around some idiot with his hazzards on b/c he was out of gas. I went into the right hand turn lane which conveniently had a curb pop up

I suck, lesson learned.

Dude, warn me before posting those pictures... I had a sudden urge to run home and check my Comps. That is so sad. Was it just the wheels/tires that took the brunt of it, or did suspension get knuckled as well?
If you need a few wheels/tires to help you get around, let me know.
So it looks like I have both the strongest (P-7) and weakest (SSR Competitions) wheels.

The suspension seems fine actually, however I don't know how to
examine it but it drives ok on the winter wheels. I have noticed a little pull with hard acceleration with the winter tires but it could be the difference in traction from my summer tires.
Basically it looks like the force from the tires getting hit blew out that part of the wheel. I am not impressed with the strength of these wheels however the price was certainly at least half of a totally forged wheel.

Let me get this straight;
you had 17" SSR Comps that you thought were cheap? You had to have bought these wheels used to get them way cheap. IF you bought them "new", and they were still cheap, chances are they were liquid cast knock-offs. If that were the case, then their strength would not be impressive. Miata racers use them all the time and they stay round as long as they keep them on the track. Hitting things is another story.
I would have to say that there are very few wheels out there that weigh less than 14 lbs for a 17X7.5 unit. Of those few number I doubt that the SSRs are relatively weak.
The metal matrix of the SSRs are closer to true forged wheels than regular cast ones due to the semi-solid spinning process used in their poduction.

That sucks...a lot. Had a friend destroy two SSR comps from an SF pothole. Heard a lot of people say that their SSRs were weak but ultra lightweight so basically just good for the track and not city streets (curbs especially). He did end up getting another set but also bought some ROTAs just for his daily driving.
