I saw three PS3's @ Target the other day. Just sitting there. People were walking through the video game section. They were all saying the same thing:
"Hrmph, guess nobody wants one anymore?"
I fsck you not, I heard three different ppl say the same thing. Crazy. Maybe it's a better system if you are rich? I've never fondled one (PS3) personally, so I'll reserve judgment.

Last November I took my son to Toys R Us b/c he loves it there. Right when you enter the front doors there was a table w/ PS3s stacked up and nobody even touched them or even batted an eye at them. I went into the gaming section right before leaving and asked the girl working if they by chance had any Wii's.
She then replied, "No, sorry. Everyone has been asking that all day long. Can I interest you in one of our PS3? We have a whole bunch of them."
I said, "No thanks. I was just interested in the Wii."
She then just laughed, "Yeah, everyone is."

And despite all this, Sony is working to ease the shortages of the PS3:
Sony Expects to Solve PS3 Shortages By May
ExtremeTech article wrote:Asked about widespread reports on video game Web sites that stacks of unsold PlayStation 3s are a common sight in many electronics shops, (Jack) Tretton (chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment America) told Reuters in an interview that the console was still out of stock in some areas three months after its November launch.
"It's a testament to the fact that we've been able to manufacture and ship units on a greater pace than any previous console," Tretton said.

I played with a PS3 a while back in MicroCenter. Wasn't impressed. I was playing Resistance: Fall of Man. Which was supposed to be good, but it reminded me to much of Call of Duty but with different weapons. The graphics weren't even as good as I was expecting.

the new controllers are light and feel cheap without the rumble motors and weights. it's still a Playstation controller, so it's good. it just feels cheap now.
this reminds me: i should have called in today to play with my Wii.

Hmm, I thought the sold controllers w/ the rumble built in?

^^^ Not sure how that litigation got solved. I think they sold them with the motors and weights, but had a to pay a pretty hefty fine to do it.

Nope, the PS3 has no rumble pack and none is coming - something about the electronics interfering with the motion sensors.
Also, since there are no rumble packs in the controllers, the actual unit itself cannot interpret and transmit/convey vibration signals to any controller (even third party devices).
So, no rumble effects for any PS3 game ever.

maybe they are going to release a PS3 RumbleChair to make up for it?

Technically it could rumble. If it's done right it won't interfere with the motion sensors (i.e. the Wii controller). Plus, it's all in the software, not the hardware of the unit. As long as the software (the game) sends the signal and there is a Dual-Shockesque controller to recognize it. There
can be rumble. But of course that would depend on Sony settling it's dispute with Immersion which it doesn't look that's going to happen.

the "no rumble because of motion sensing interference" is a $ONY snow-job. there is no rumble to save money on production and licensing fees after they lost that patent infringement suit.
the older games obviously support rumble, but the new PS3 games won't. not sure if the old PS2 controllers work with the PS3 though.

Well, I stand corrected. Apparently Sony must've decided that since no one was buying their system they had to swallow their pride and do something to draw people to it's $600 machine.
