I wonder if they are patenting this not only for purchasing of iTunes and such... but also everything else. Europeans have been able to buy soda's and such for a long time like this.

Wouldn't surprise me... They've been pushing a few ideas on Americans over the years:

The mouse.

USB

Firewire

etc, etc...

I'd wait to see how difficult they make it to move those files around. If I buy a track on my iBook now, and want to store it in my Mini when I get home, Apple makes it pretty difficult (thankfully, I can just use tar in the shell). I can't imagine they'll make it any easier to do with a phone (that I can't shell into!!)
