So I just bought a stock 2002 WRB WRX Sedan. 53k miles, Factory short-shifter, anthracite-finished stock rims.

I çurrently live in DC (NW), so I figured I'd say hey to the community...

I tend to go for power before appearance. That having been said, exhaust (as in catback) isn't really where I'd start. The exhaust is a good place to look for HP, but unless you get rid of the cat, and do a whole turbo-back, it's not going to be a lot of power, and you may derive more satisfaction from the car looking the way you want. Personally, if I had gotten the blue one (wife wanted black), I'd have started with those yellow vinyls on the car.

Have you thought about doing something like an accessport? Or a full turbo-back and exhaust manifold? For a couple grand you could be getting big power out of it, putting you close to the stock STI's.

Just a thought.

Welcome!

Well if you want to debadge the trunk I say go for it. That's a DIY job so its the easiest and cheapest thing to do on the list.

After that the exhaust is the firt thing I'd go for. Although thinking about an AP isnt a bad idea either

I voted for "Exhaust" - and by that I mean a full turbo-back exhaust. What Avirette was saying is true: just doing a cat-back does not provide much of a performance gain. Now full turbo-back gets you a good deal of horse-power.

-Debadge which won't cost you a thing...but I would wait until it gets warmer so it would be easier to do.

-Next, I would say AP running stage 1

-Then DP or TBE running stage 2

an axle back exhaust will get you that boxer rumble; a turbo back will get you some HP, slightly quicker spool and set you up for EM and further gains.

tint is always good on a car you plan to keep for a while and this time of year you won't miss rolling down the windows for a few days.

debadging is nearly free but not easy in the cold if you have access to a garage.

I wouldn't have any painting done until spring/summer.

all bugeyes should have morettes. it's the law.

Oh HELL no! The only replacement lights for a bugeye should be the STi-style projector beams. 8)

Congrats on teh yu0r new Suby!

I pretty much agree with everyone else here. There is sooo much you can get out of the WRX, but you H-A-V-E to uncork that exhaust and let the boxer rumble. It's the law. I read it somewhere. Honest.

if they're LHD correct beam pattern then STi projectors are acceptable. :poke: :rolllaugh:

Does anybody have any picture examples of the different headlights you're talking about? Thanks.

If you search in the Members Gallery section of Nasioc, you'll find what you're looking for.

That last pic w/ the silver ones looks insane. Any chance you can find a pic of those on a WRB?

Welcome to DCAWD :) As the guys above have said, the basic modifications come in groups:

1st: Turbo-back ($800-your hearts desire)
2nd: Engine Management ($600-your hearts desire)
3rd: Fuel upgrade(injectors/pump), turbo and maybe intercooler upgrade, depending on what turbo you go with.

Everything above has had to do with power... What are your goals for the car? If you want more handling, we can help you in that dept as well :)

Again, welcome to DCAWD! Try to come out to a meet some time, you'll find we're pretty friendly and willing to take people out for rides if you want to see how certain mods affect your car.

Take care,

Not to sound rude... but two of us already did the first bit of searching for you. Spend a few minutes with google and/or nasioc. Some terms that might be worth using would be: Morettes; Headlights; Subaru; WRX.

:google: :google: :google:

Any of us would be more than willing to help you out in any way possible, but we're not going to do your research for you. Got a technical question? - We'll help you out! Need help with an install? - We'll help you out! Need an opinion on a part/dealer/etc? - We'll help you out!

Need help with a Google search? ... I think you get my point.

google is your friend, young grasshopper. 8)

i've also seen where some people leave the center section black and only paint the top and bottom body color. I dig that look a lot.

i don't have the most popular opinion: i don't care for the bug eye look or the new '06 nose. but I'm used to not being popular...

Those are Prodrive lights.

I would get an AccessPORT and go to Stage 1. Then spend some time researching turboback exhausts and make an informed decision.

Sorry for my laziness. I'm currently at work, and I thought you may have a forum up with pictures and could quickly send me the url. By no means did I want you to do the research for me.

As a website developer, I'm well versed in google. =)

Thanks for the help you've provided so far.

Gah. I already dropped 14k on the car itself. Maybe I should pay the car off before putting more $$ into it...

What are your personal thoughts on the EDM/JDM headlights? I think they look the best out of the group suggested...
