Sometime since last night, my wheels and tires were stolen from my '05 STI in my driveway

They were kind enough to put it on wood blocks, but what should I look for as far as other possible damage? And what tires should I get ?

Get a quote from a Subaru dealer for replacement wheels/tires, then get a check from the insurance company (the wheels alone are 700/ea). Then go out and buy yourself a nice set of something and keep the extra $$$

Yeah good idea sabre

Also I don't have the appropriate tools and my friend who usually helps me change my wheels is not around. Anyone wanna stop by Sterling tonight or tell me where to buy the torque wrench?

What wheels and what tires should I get?
Was looking at:
Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position
For tires, and something like:
http://www.tirerack.com/servlet/CallJsp ... erSpecial=
For the wheels.
Comments, suggestions?

Good deal right there!
Also, take a look at DrWRX (Darrin)'s thread
here. I have the Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD07 and love them.

Ok... but what WHEELS

I don't want $700 BBS wheels, but do want something that will perform. I honestly don't care much how they look.
Also, anyone near Sterling with tools available to help me put my winter wheels on?

have you considered prodrive?

Ok, wheels & wintersport M3s are on with the help of my friend.
Purchased a torque wrench as well from advanced auto parts, not the best
but it'll do.
Prodrive wheels ?
How about something that Tire Rack stocks as I've had good luck with them in the past...
So what wheels from Tire Rack are appropriate and reasonably priced?
Which yokos:
Size: 225/45ZR17
Lotus
Serv. Desc: 91W - $229
Size: 225/45ZR17
Lotus Heat Cycled
Serv. Desc: 91W - $239
Size: 225/45ZR17
Serv. Desc: 91W - $185
Ps. We need a chat room or something, waiting for responses to forum threads stinx

so... what do I look for in a wheel? What makes wheel X better than wheel Y? What size do I want? I'm clueless here guys.... Is there a better place that will sell me tire+wheel mounted and balanced?

there are a few places (most tire shops, or even a performance shop), but i would just get what you want (tires from tire rack and wheels from whoever), and not settle for what some place has.
For picking wheels i look at weight, size and how it was made. 18's are more expensive than 17's because they are bigger and need bigger tires. However, they do look better (IMO). Forged wheels tend to be stronger and lighter then cast, but are also more expensive. Also for your car, only an 8 or 8.5in wheel fits 100%.

Thanks to everyone for posting info + condolences. Are
O.Z wheels bad or no?
As of now looks like I am gonna go with:
18x8.5 Kosei K3 Silver Painted
for 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STI
225/40ZR18 Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD07 Blackwall
for 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STI
Any objections?
Total: $1,972.00

a 225 on a 8.5 will look funny. Try a 245/40 or 245/35. Also look at the S03 pole positions, they are on close out!
other than that..looks good, and I'll have to see the kosei's in person

is it maybe better to find 17x8.5s ? Does anyone cides 3 ppl read this forum?
On tire rack, there seems to be a lack of wheels recommended for the STI @ 17", what's the deal with that?

18 is more popular for aftermarket... i imagine that is why tirerack does that, and a not as many 17's fit...
oz are nice wheels, btw.

I can't find the Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD07 in > 225 btw...
Seems that tire is mainly made for 17s?
What about:
225/45ZR17 Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD07 Blackwall
17x8 WedsSport SA-70 Bronze Painted

that will fit 100% but the reason for the slogan "wider is better" is the more tire you have the better your car will handle.
you can fit up to a 245 on a 8in rim, but a 225/235 is best. On a 8.5 you can easily fit a 245/255. Anything over 255 has problems fitting in the stock fender well.
but really really really really LOOK at the Bridgestone S03's. They come on the 911 turbo, and other super cars.. and are GREAT tires, and are on close out.
i would swap for the 245/45/17 s03's

)

any ssr
(Yeah the new black comp's are sweet, that would be my choice or you )
I would also invest in a better security system than the stock (even if you don't have one)
Get some wheel locks as well but that still doesn't guarantee the hooligans will not get your wheels.
