Hello from Alexandria!
When I was in NJ, I was a member of NJIC, so I'm hoping this club will help fill in the gaps at the larger forums (NASIOC/iwsti/etc.) might not provide. Mr. Kleen referred me from NASIOC, so here goes! This was the hello I posted there, so if the references confuse you, that's why.
Hello from Alexandria!
I've been lurking these Mid-Atlantic forums for a month now because I was planning on moving... and it's time to say hi! I'm a new transplant from New Jersey who's just moved to the DC area to take a job with the US Patent Office. I'm VERY new to the area (only been to the DC area twice before -- once for my interview, and once to find an apartment), and am looking for meets and other social events to get me up to speed with the local culture and of course nightlife.
First a bit about me. I'm 26, and majored in Computer Engineering in college (which is what I'll be doing for the Patent Office). My hobbies include anything STi related, and kung fu. Also, I'm currently trying to get on the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Squad but not for fire, but EMT instead. I've got a couple friends in the DC area thankfully, so my move will be a relatively painless one.
As for my car? It's a 2006 WRB STi, which I got in May, and it's been a blast ever since. There's lots of pictures in my website's gallery, but also I've started a journal on iwsti.com which has a lot of info on the mods I've done and plan on doing.
So, basically that's that, and the NJ guys have made my first two months of Subi-ship amazing ones, and I've heard nothing but great things about the Mid-Atlantic guys too, so thanks in advance for all the good times to come. In case you haven't been reading my journal, here are some random pics of the car, and one of me!

You just moved down from Jersey and didn't bring my RS hood with you? I'm shocked and appalled.
Since you will be literally working right across the street from me (I'm in the long two story building with the attached parking deck with all the Alexandria Police and detective cruisers) I'll have to stop by and give you crap & show you the places for lunch in the area.

Well, it depends on how much money is involved...unrequited wrote: BTW, zaxrex what do you do?
I work for a small defense contracting company in a division that does emergency/security and first response software development and integration.
Lots of DOE, DOJ, and DHS contracts.

My office pranks are usually over engineered, but well appreciated and accepted.

HAH, love the avatar btw...
Pics of the new apartment are HERE!!! (Thanks mom & dad!)
I finalized all of my crap these past two weeks and finally drove down on Thursday to move into my place. My parents hooked me up this past weekend. They helped to pick up the tab to furnish my place, and while it still looks a bit empty, if you check out the before/after pics, it's almost perfect now. I just need some things from home to fill the walls, and I'm set. I don't start work 'till the 24th, so I've got the next couple weeks to just relax and get my bearings here. More pics when I get 'em. Also, here's some pictures of my car in front of my new workplace (click for highres):
