it's a great game, the best MMO I've ever seen, but I just don't have enough time. and man does WoW require time... once things slow down again in the winter I might pick it back up.

Steve got D&D Online last weekend. it's good and has some interesting ideas, but just didn't grab me the way WoW did. I think that's a good thing.

Yeah, it is funny. All the people that work here (that have been hooked on the game and stay up all night w/o sleep) have started getting bored w/ the game and just stopped playing. Wonder what will fill that gap in their life

Very wierd to read this....I cancelled my account last night. Same thing....just wasn't playing it enough to justify the monthly cost. Don't know if I'll pick it back up again. Until I figure it out the software will sit on the shelf calling to me......"reinstall.....reinstall."

I knew it was time to let it go when I hadn't played for about 3 weeks, logged in to see what was going on, played for about 5 minutes, and realized I was bored.

Wonder what's next on the MMORPG horizon............

I wasn't really bored with the game, I want to emphasize that, I just didn't feel like I was getting $15 a month out of it.

now I'm putting that $15 in a savings account. I figure with interest rates climbing and Bu$h2 spending my Social Security on Iraq and billionaire tax cuts I should start trying to scrape together a nest-egg.

I have high hopes for Neverwinter Nights II. hopefully it will be like a multiplayer Oblivion. the only down side is that with a group based game you actually have to get a group together. with the MMOs there are already people online, any time you want to play.

Grab Dungeon Seige II (I bought it for $12 shipped off of ebay) if you want a fun game that you can pick up/down at any time.

I picked up DSII a couple weeks ago, but I paid $25 for it. it's a lot of fun, but doesn't completely do it for me. I'd really like to see a new Diablo but I'm not holding my breath...

if you are looking for another RPG experience... i suggest checking out Morrowind... its the game Oblivion was the sequel to... it has its critics but i stand by the fact that it is my favorite RPG that i have ever played... its not for the casual player though... it quite possibly demands more attention than WoW.. there is no fast-travel like in morrowind and you cant just casually breeze through the game.... the combat system is frustrating until you level up your skills but if you want a good story-line, a bigger world than oblivion.. and better pacing.. i recommend Morrowind.

for something thats not out yet that you have to look forward to.. check out Project Offset.... we were discussing this last night during my 3D modeling class.... it looks damn good...

Funny you say that, there has been rumors of a Diablo and a Starcraft MMPOG recently!

BTW, I really like Guild Wars. MMPOG, but without a monthly fee :)

I pre-ordered Oblivion, but like you said it demands a LOT of time (and large chucks at a sitting) to get into.

I just miss the camaraderie of a group of dungeon crawlers like back in the good old pen-and-paper days. staying up all night on a diet of Mountain Dew and Doritos, slaying monsters, hording treasure: good times...

Julian turned us on to Project Offset last year. I heard they got a development deal, but don't know the details/truth.

I just never could get fully into WoW, too much traveling and I could never find anyone who fit into my play level (above game retard and below game savant).

I've been a CoH/CoV addict since betas came out on both. That's a whole different monkey.

I would dig a new Diablo as well though.

I know my little brother used to play Runescape years ago, don't know if he still does now. I've never gotten into computer games, online or otherwise. I also never got into RPGs, LARPing, etc. even though I hung out w/ lots of peopl who did.
