first thing that comes to my mind is.. where did you get your gas.. is it a station you usually go to or was this some random place? around here in PA occasionally gas stations will put water int heir gas to save some cash... i havent had it happen in my car but i did get a bad batch in my tractor and it fucked royally with the engine.. usually it wont kill cars from what i hear... it just kinda screws a bit with the cars power.. but since you were pretty much an empty tank... like i said i've never experienced this in my car though so i cant tell you for sure

More than likely you've sucked up some debris that was laying down in the lower part of the tank. I'd check the fuel filter. The knock/click is probably from something rattling around since it's idling rough. Don't worry, I doubt you did anything serious!

The Fuel filter can be found in the engine bay on the drivers side close to the firewall. Hmm, I'll see if I can find a picture

If you are trying to run the lines out of gass, unhook the fuel filter and get a tube to extend the input to a bucket. When you try to start the car, the fuel pump will switch on and start pumping fuel. You might have to keep the engine cranking, but I think the priming shutoff is done by fuel pressure sensor. Since you have no pressure build up, it should run the tank dry.

well i used to play WoW back in the betas and when it first came out.. once it hit "the pop culture" i pretty much have given up playing... having the channels clogged with "OMFG NOOB LRN2PLY!" and "WTS [UR MOM] LOLZ!" .. gets old... very.. very... fast... i can be occasionally found on CS:S or battlefield 2.. but nowadays i'm either found playing xbox RallisportChallenge 2... or on the 360 playing Project Gotham Racing 3

Hey guess what... lucky me my fuel filter is in the gas tank.
I suppose a trip to the dealer is in my near (like tomorrow) future unless you sages have other advice.

Pick up the fuel filter from the dealer and bring it over here tomorrow night (or today if you can get it!). It's pretty easy to replace

You can bring it over to my place any time you are ready. I was going to do some work on my car as well later on this evening when it cools down from the 100F! I'll PM you my address.

I used to play CoH and a buddy of mine still plays with his wife. I used to play a lot of WoW but haven't lately. it's a great game but I just don't seem to have the time and it's hard to justify $15 a month if I'm not going to play.
good luck with the fuel filter. looks like I might be stuck at work till late tonight.

I hear you on the late work thing... The power went off in our building today and we only had a generator truck outside running to keep the fridges from going completely down. Lets just say that a freezer going out is to a pastry chef what I guess a server crashing is to you guys
Still havent picked up the filter yet
