Dilemma...again part deux.
Well, I have 1 set of 17" Rotas and 1 set of stock XT wheels w/ a spare wheel.
A set of Rota Subzeros w/ tires came up for sale.
Should I sell all my stock wheels (5) that have tires and buy the Rotas.
-OR-
Say screw it, and just keep my stock (5) 16" XT wheels.

I'd only get the bigger ones if you need them to fit over brakes. Since you have the brakes all figured out, I'd say keep the stockers for backup.
And coming from me with no stockers and 4 sets of wheels, that is saying something!

sell them, and get some 17's. The reason i say, is that you can always buy an STi spare if you really want one.sirwilliam wrote:Well, heres the thing...if I don't sell them, I keep them

I already have the 17 tarmac2s but I want to grab another set of 17s for summer or winter.complacent wrote:If your brakes fit under the 16's, keep 'em for winter. Then splurge for a pair of summer wheels.
my .02usd
..unless you want to be all gangstar year round then two pair of 17's would do the trick. or maybe even the jdm fsti 18's... hmmmm....

The 17" sub zeros would make a great set of wheels for summer. They're light (16.4 lbs each), have lage openings for better cooling for the brakes, and they're easy to clean.
If they come with decent tires, and are under $700 grab'em!
You can always stack your old tires/wheels in the attic/carport/garage/basement/closet/etc.

They are more like 17.4lbs but they come w/ good AS tires at a size that works for me w/ a lot of tread left for $700 bux.drwrx wrote:The 17" sub zeros would make a great set of wheels for summer. I wasn't just pulling that number out of the air, I got it from the Aug 2003 issue of Sport Comapct Car that weighed over 220 wheels. The 17" Rota Sub Zero actually came in at 16.2 lbs and the Rota SDR came in at 17.6 lbs. Perhaps SSC got a particularly light variant, but my guess is that number is probably correct.sirwilliam wrote:[They are more like 17.4lbs but they come w/ good AS tires at a size that works for me w/ a lot of tread left for $700 bux.

I have a friend that has them and they weighed in at ~17.4lbs whereas my Rota Tarmac2s were 17.9lbs...but who knows about variances in casting/making the wheels.drwrx wrote:I wasn't just pulling that number out of the air, I got it from the Aug 2003 issue of Sport Comapct Car that weighed over 220 wheels. Okay, so I will be keeping my stockers but might trade my Gunmetal Tarmac2's for Gold JDM V7 STi wheels plus cash:

So what is your answer? Can't stand on the fencedrwrx wrote:I'm a big fan of the old STi 17"s.
That being said, black wheels on a black car (or Forester) are very cool.
