article here, forum thread here.

Any Vonage users/former users care to chime in on this one? I'm curious to hear how much real "water" this theory holds.

I had so many issues with my Vonnage service that I dropped it and got a cell phone. of course the cell was NEXTEL so my service didn't get much better, but at least the cell phone doesn't interfere with WoW and I can take it with me. :roll:

I'll read the entire articles at lunch, and I can fill you in on the strange behavior of the Vonnage modem tonight.

I've had Vonage for awhile now and love it. It's rare that I have problems with the quality of the phone service, even while playing games. Although I don't have a typical line, I've setup my network to handle the voice traffic properly. Basically, my network looks like this:

Vonage VoIP Router/Modem -> WRTG54G running Sveasoft Firmware -> Cisco 2620 -> T1

I have QoS enabled and have set VoIP traffic as the highest priority. I also set the rest of the traffic to bulk or express depending on the type. I have my home connection limited at the WRGT54G to 100k/s so that I always leave head room for the business traffic.

I'm guessing (haven't read the article, just skimmed it) that Comcast is implementing QoS to kill the Vonage VoIP traffic. I think that pretty soon we'll be choosing carriers for their QoS standards in addition to their bandwidth.
