Hey, I have a sawzall and some drainage pipe...I could fix you up one on your ride

Great idea but worry about water injestion.

Yeah, I used to run a CAI but after driving through a couple hurricanes you change back to the stock box  minus the snorkus...but you can mod the snorkus to act similar to a CAI and not have to worry about injestion.

OK, this is neat enough that I'm going to spoil my "1337" post count.

water ingestion shouldn't be an issue if for no other reason than the air filter in the stock air box. there is also the fact that the intake hole is pretty high up. if you're in water that deep, well, you have other issues to deal with. for fun ask Zak and Julian about water in your intake.

I have been thinking about removing the [useless USDM] fog lights and running a hose to my custom fender intake, but I don't think it would make that great an impact on performance. probably better to use that intake as a secondary brake cooling duct (my stock ducts are functional now).

very cool find!

Brake duct what? this is an RCE production.

LOL, yea, i was thinking getting this as well (thinking...and for what it costs only thinking)

"Grand Plan", that intake duct in the fender, and JDM fog covers mated to that duct kit. All super functional and they look cool.

I've seen those for the BMW 3 series but not for Imprezas. what does it cost?

That brake duct is nice but wouldn't there be problems hitting it while going over bumps or accidentally picking up roadkill so it can bake under your car?

Umm there is only that metal part, the rest is a plastic pipe. I think its so close to the spindle and the rest of the hardware that if you mess up that piping i think you would have messed up the suspension and other things more.

Still i think its cool.. lol I'm like a kid in a candy store when i see this stuff.

And the cost is in the few hundreds... I will not say but you can email myles for the full details.

took me a minute to figure out that RCE was RaceCompEngineering. I checked both of Myles sites and couldn't find any mention of the brake duct. I'm sure custom fab work like that isn't cheep. for several hundred does he at least throw in the ducting?

ducting like this is usually zip tied to the bottom a arm of the suspension, at least when I see it on race cars it is. not sure if you would run this all the time on the street. maybe use the STi fog light covers when not on the track?

and why use the JDM fog light bezel? go all out and get the Syms ducts for only $399. http://www.fastwrx.com/syfoglaco.html

Its not on the RCE site (sorry for not spelling out the name) they are still testing them out, but these pics were on nasioc.

As for the brake ducts, the syms are WAY to expensive, and the car and so are the charge speed ones

I think the covers would be >$100 and they have the biggest hole... (that sounded bad didnt it?)

but yes, the kit includes all the ducting and mounting junk.

I also agree about not running ducts on the street, the last thing i need to do is driver thought a puddle and WOOSH! no brakes. :)

which IWSTI gallery did you "borrow" these shots from? I decided to register but haven't' found the original post. I would do it if it weren't too expensive. I'm a fan of "function follows form" engineering and I also dig the asymmetrical look.

EDIT: Found it!

Never had water lock on any car of mine (although I should have on the Integra). Honestly, the CAI isn't going to do that much for you, as the little increase you are going to have could easily be ofset by the IC. If you really want to reduce your intake temps, go FMIC
