Ecoboost Mustang 6MT

Test drove a Mustang Ecoboost 6MT. I've stopped into a few dealer lots to ogle the new 'stang, but this is the first MT I've seen. :drive:

The manual completes the car. (Drove the auto as well and while it'll work for most people I was 'meh')
It looks, feels, rides, drives as sporty as competition costing 200-300% as much. I won't say sounds because I believe it's piped in on the EB through the speakers. But then again, so are the competition… so yeah, has the same digitally altered soundtrack as well.

Base model Fords are well-equipped anymore. This was a $26K model with a backup camera and bluetooth. They had it marked down to $23K. I feel like if I was actually looking to buy a car today I could have gotten it down around 21. Not bad for an entry-level 335i competitor.

Just the sheer value of the thing makes it hard to keep wallet in pants, but I somehow managed.

Can't wait to see what the RS does with this engine, and what the aftermarket does in a few years.

Agreed, this engine is ripe for some mods! Ford has stepped up their game it seems. I really want to go test drive one :)

Cobb already has an Accessport available for it.
The reported gains are pretty decent (+25-30% whp & torque on average)
I suspect even more with an upgraded intake, intercooler and exhaust.

Bama Performance got a 12.9 1/4 @ 104 mph with an intake and tune (and drag radials)
http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture ... -and-tune/
Sure that is still well behind the GT's 4.4 0-60 and 12.7 1/4 @ 112mph, but it's a start

Sadly, I can't recommend the base model. You really do want the performance pack:
• K-Brace (YES!)
• Upsized Rear Sway Bar (YES!)
• Unique Chassis Tuning (meh)
• Larger Brake Rotors with 4-Piston Calipers (YES!)
• 19” X 9” Gloss Black painted aluminum wheels (Summer Tires Only) (meh)
• Unique EPAS, ABS and stability control tuning (meh)
• Aluminum Dash Panel (meh)
• 3.55 Limited Slip Rear Axle (YES!)
• Larger Radiator (YES!)
• Heavy-Duty Front Springs (meh)
• Gauge Pack (Oil Pressure and Boost) (meh)
• Spoiler Delete (meh)
It's worth the extra $2k

Agreed. Not only is the car cheap for 300+ hp, you get a lot for [relatively] cheap with the performance pack.

That is pretty good for 2k!

I think the track-pac wheels are a nice upgrade too, not a "meh." ;-)

I only say meh to the wheels, because I see that as a very subjective thing.
To be honest, I like them as well.
