"We have received strong interest from the US, where the hatchback was 50 per cent (of previous-generation WRX sales), so we're now considering."

This may solve my "what do I get next" problem.

Hatchback STi please! I might even consider the shipping cost if this happens...

I hate to say it, but I don't think I want a 8/10s attack/track car that I can only appreciate 1/10th the time. The benefits over a regular WRX (stiffer suspension, more rigid chassis, active yaw control, intelligent diffs) would only come out as positives when pushing the car to it's(or my) limit.
While fun, some of those same attributes would be a detriment to daily riding quality. Currently, my stiffly sprung coil-overs and hardened bushings all around gets tired after an hour, or with unwitting passengers.
Not sure if the STi with old motor is worth the $8-10K difference that can only be appreciated 10% of the time. Well for me at least.

The old 2.5 has unequal length headers. I'll put up with the suspension for the sound and the diffs.

Yup! While I might not be on a track, I can certainly say that I try to use every bit my car has almost every day!

I'm SHOCKED the new STI didn't use the 2.5 short block with a DI head with dual AVCS. I also thought we had a 30% chance of a dual clutch auto as an option... I really do want to wait to these things come out if I can... but my poor 04 has 188k and the body shows it... lol, I still drive it like I stole it though.

I never want a DCT again unless it's in a true track car. If it's anywhere near a DD I'll just get an automatic if I need it.

I haven't driven either of the new offereings, but from what I've read, the suspension is not significantly stiffer in the STi over the WRX.
Most comparos talk of how similar they feel.

Honestly, I love the previous body style (at least the hatch version).

Even with equal length headers, the boxer rumble will never be completely removed, just suppressed a bit.

My only issue is I'm just done with rowing gears in stop and go traffic for hours every day. Yep i have become "old."
If Subaru could develop a decent dual clutch auto WRX wagon, I know where the money for my next vehicle would go.
Until that day, I will do my best to keep the LGT running as long as possible.

New front pads and rotors and a new driver's side headlight assembly are now in and due to be installed soon.

I will be really, really surprised if we don't see a Levorg in the next few years. Like who wants to take a bet kinda surprised.

Is my perception of who an average Subaru customer is completely wrong? Or my perception of their financial situation? I just have no clue why they're making these decisions.
