1972 Datsun 240Z
L28e motor with moderate cam,
Eibach springs
Boge shock
Front and rear sway bars
6-1 headers
4 speed trans
Air dam
Electronic ignition.

It has been sitting for 3 years so I have some work to do.

Very cool.
How much work is involved converting the to the fuel injection system of the L28e?
What is you ultimate goal for the car? Track car?

I thought the "e" in L28e was for electronic fuel injection?
If I am mistaken just ignore me.

You are correct, the previous owner went back to carbs...

I will take any advice to starting this beast up.

I will be pumping out the old gas first.

How long has this car been sitting?
It's been forever since I have worked on a vehicle with carbs (1988).
I wouldn't even know where to begin.

Car sat for about 3 years. I will def do a basic check on the engine and service it, new oil, filter, plugs etc, take valve cover off, and check valve clearances first, and lube the top end for the first start.

Also I found out that there is a local Datsun Shop in Manassas called Datsun Spirit.

Advice: Clean the carbs, replace all the hoses, put new gas in, get a couple of fire extinguishers, and start her up! Looks like an AWESOME project.

that could be a very fun project. good luck! agreed with everyone else, all fluids and hoses are going to need to be replaced. good chance a pump or two are dead. keep a close eye on oil pressure if possible.

Cool car. Many fond memories of racing around w/ friends who owned them years ago.

Just learned that the STI r180 rear dif works with the 240z...just need to buy a set of output shafts for $400.

Found a used 05 STI r180 for $350...anyone have a spare one laying round they want to get rid of?

Any updates?

My rallybuddy Nui has a FairladyZ he just got reunited with.

RHD.

He is restoring as streetcar but in ex-works livery and Safari-style.

He lives over in MD and had Z parts in his 510 rallycar till he out a RB turbo motor in it. So probably has many spares and know-how if you need anything, let me know.

Being that I have a Son about to be a year old it is stored at our project house...I have done nothing except buy filters and little things to get her up and running.

If you or your friend want to come help her get running you are welcome too. I have a lot to look at before I crank her up.

as far as parts:
glovebox and door
center console
maybe the front rotors and caliper we can swap since mine has the datsun truck swap and I heard it is great for racecars, but not for a daily driver.

well got her to start up...then she turned into a fire breathing dragon!

Looks like I have a stuck float. No damage done, but almost $hit my pants. Good thing I was prepared for the fire.

She sounded beastly...yummy cam sounds!
