Nothing too exciting as you already know. The plan is Kia optima as a commuter and then to safe up for a proper budget sports car. Somethin with 2 doors, 2 seats, and a v8. Just dont know what yet.

I also spotted you this morning again. I was in the wifey's volvo.

Yep, I feel you bro. It's what I did with the Saaby for a year or so before I bought the BRZ. To funny! I saw you but like last time was in a bit of a hurry and couldn't stop to chat. You gotta escape the women one of these nights and come over to crack a beer with the boys.

Trade tail lights before you trade in the car? I'll drive back down to your place :)

I think the whole daily driving thing combined with my 2nd daughter due in 2 months changed what I want in a daily driver. I'm likely gonna pick up a Kia Optima or something like it. Then I'll figure out something for a project car(leaning towards a Datsun 240Z).

Matt, what are your thoughts on what to do with the STI. I had a decent offer in trade (27.5) but could likely sell it for more if I waited for the right buyer.

$27.5 is not a bad offer. Was that for trade in or to buy?
Based on what I've seen selling on-line, it looks you could get another $3k from the right buyer.

If you wanted to save a bunch of cash, you could buy a used 2005+ Legacy GT over the optima.
Plenty of room, especially in the wagon, yet can can be modified cheaply and easily.
I'm loving my automatic 2005 wagon. It is the perfect DD. Picked it up for $11k with under 70k miles.
Just need to install the struts and springs, the vf52, get a tune and I'm done.

Your order of importance for value is as follows:
Private Party - Most Value
CarMax - Next Best Value
Trade-In - Least Value

27.5 sounds pretty damn good but I would need for my PreOwned Mgr to run the numbers to see if it's fair. These cars are still killing it at auction and will command top dollar for trade-in.

The offer was on trade, I'm not convinced that carmax could come remotely close to that. Matt, is the auction average what the dealer calls a black book price?

No, Black Book is a tool that is updated very frequently and used to set a particular value for a trade-in or used car. This is also a tool that we will use to know how much a preowned cars value is for loans.

The auction values are real time. Meaning I can go onto the auction sites and see what your exact (or as close as possible) car, color, trim, option, accessory, etc car sold for.

The auction values are going to be the strongest determining factor with a trade-in value because it lets us know what we can sell the car for.

Matt, is there any ways you could tell me what that most recent value is for an 11 STI hatch w/ 28k miles...

Not today. My PreOwned Mgr is off and I wouldn't trust any of the Mgr's present to give a "fair" value. Hit me up tomorrow or Monday and I'll get with him to get a sight unseen value.

Pull the head unit out last night, pioneer avid 930bt w/ Subaru harness and steering wheel controls adapter.

Matt, let me know if you find anything out. Thanks again

The deal is done, swapped the STI out for a 13 Optima with just about all the bells and whistles.

Updated the list and lowered some prices. This is a smoking deal on a set of quality wheels. They weigh in at 16.9 pounds a wheel in this sizing and are $600 each new.
