Cadillac is going to unveil the all-new 2014 Cadillac CTS next week in New York, but today we have confirmation that it will be offered with a new twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 engine. The twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 is Cadillac's first ever twin-turbocharged engine and generates 420 horsepower and 430 lb-ft. of torque.

"The new Cadillac Twin-Turbo brings a new dimension of technologically advanced performance to the all-new 2014 Cadillac CTS sedan," said David Leone, executive chief engineer. "Delivering power and sophistication, it marks another large step forward in the product-driven expansion of Cadillac."

The twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 will also be mated to a new eight-speed transmission. Cadillac estimates that the CTS with the turbocharged 3.6L V6 will reach 0-60 mph 4.6 seconds and achieve a top speed of 170 mph. The twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 will also be offered in the 2014 XTS. The 2014 CTS sedan will also feature the naturally aspirated 3.6L V-6 rated at 321 horsepower, as well as a 2.0L turbocharged engine rated at an estimated 272 horsepower.
Nice to see them catching up with the Euro brands!

US auto makers are finally making some mills that interest me.
272 hp turbo 2.0. 420 hp turbocharged 3.6L V6.
Yes, please!

Now just put them in a car I would want to drive.

I wonder what trim level that V6 is slated for. The previous CTS V6 could be had with a manual and Recaro's and was a bit of a fun ride, albeit not fast by modern standards. The V model garnered everybody's attention. Put this new turbo mill in the car with a manual and it could be the performance bargain of the century (under $40k). If they're rocking the ZF 8HP as the optional automatic, even better.

Agreed. That's a gripe I'm sure I share with many in regards to the Ford Ecoboost V6. They don't put it in any cars truly worthy of a performance car engine, which it could be. The 4-cylinders in the STs are interesting tho

No way it will be under $50. I doubt they'll let the dealers order them with out at least three different packages (tech, trim, and cold weather)

Probably right. $50k when similar German cars with that level of power are $60k-70k. My 300C SRT8 is ~$55k for 470hp. Probably a fair comparison in terms of size and power for this new Caddy, though the current CTS is a bit smaller overall.
