Cisco wants to sell Linksys as part of its strategy to exit consumer businesses while expanding in corporate software and technology service.
Linksys has been the least buggy of the internet gateways I've used and also one if the easiest to configure. Wonder whose going to take them over.

I always wondered why Cisco bought them in the first place. I'm with you, I love all the linksys stuff I have.

Why? Because only us geeks knew Cisco at the time. Linksys was their bridge to the consumer market. Now that they've crossed said bridge, the relationship is probably a distraction.

Oh no, it wasn't that (that only we knew them) at all. I couldn't see how they were going to make more money in the consumer market. It isn't their market and didn't seem like one they were interested in. Them selling Linksys proves that.

Because they couldn't sell $400 yearly support contracts for their $100 home routers?

The 2 Linksys routers I've used suck fucking balls. My dual band 802.11n router has (well had) to be bounced twice a week, starting 2 weeks after it was bought.
