NASA says comets crash into the planet, bring the hydrogen hydroxide to the surface, and the poles are cool enough to currently have enough ice to bury DC in 2.5 miles of ice. An oder of magnitude greater than previously thought.

I wonder what this means for our estimates of water (any form) on other planets.

I'm more curious about life in said water
Big thought: Non-carbon based life.

Actually the comets are fairly rich in organic material. Melted comet makes "scum" according to zee scientists.
I always thought that water was a necessary buffer for carbon life.
Wouldn't non-carbon life be able to go without the wet stuff?
