Jalopnik says
I wonder if maintenance on the BMW D powerplant will actually make long term ownership of one cost effective.
A diesel sportwagon would be neat, but the diesel Forrester is still neater.

I wonder if they'll actually bring a true Sportwagon, or if they are referring to the X1.

I actually like the X1 up close. It's kinda what the Outback was to the Legacy. It rides fairly low for an X, and it drives a lot like a 3-series.

More like the Infinity FX35 than the X3. Plus it's not too pig-heavy.

Diesel it up and I'm sold.

when BMW says "3 Series", they don't mean X1. The 320D/F31 is already in Europe. The US gets the F31 in March.

[QUOTE=rcanter;12868696]I have just given the car it's first wash as the sun has not revealed itself all week. Here are some photos of the car with particular attention to the tailgate as someone had asked about that.

Love the lift gate into the cavernous boot.
Hate the lift window. Pee-you.

i'm going to have to second this. what's the functional purpose of the lift window? meh. unnecessary complexity.

love the rest of the car though.

I like it but its the size of a 5er. Too bad we won't get the M135i 5-door. Or the 335i waggon for that matter.

I parked next to an E39 M5 at CNC on Saturday and it was made very clear that the F30 is about the same size.

Awesome looking car. Surely you have a great vehicle to drive
