Well it's official! The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 is powered by the most powerful V8 production engine, which means that it packs more power than the Camaro and Challenger. Ford originally announced that the 2013 Shelby GT500 would have 650 horsepower, but now its been SAE certified at 662 horsepower and 631 lb-ft.
With 662 horsepower under the hood, the 2013 Shelby GT500 has 82 more horsepower than the 2012 Camaro ZL1. Ford also points out that the 2013 Shelby GT500 is the most fuel efficient engine in America with over 550 horsepower. It's rated at 15 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.
