Re: RallyX 2012
The rallybrat enjoyed riding along w/ Josh for the PM drive-thru.
Oh, and Katie's carboncopy paper waivers amazed him. Its magic.
Soon as we hit the Rt7 on the trip home, he fell asleep (which is hard to do in the Lancia).

What we all thought would be the closest battle of the day ended promptly
when Mike Golden missed "the circle of doom" on his first run and handed
the championship to his brother Jim. This allowed Jim to sail to the
finish without pushing too hard, taking a well earned top honors for his
first season competing in SA. Scott Lentz, driving Katie's Subaru for the
first time showed incredible natural pace. Jim did better in the morning
mud, but Scott came very close in afternoon raw times, coming within 24
seconds to secure 2nd place. Josh Baker has been quietly sneaking up in the
standings in his 3rd race with WDCR. He eeked out Julian Zottl by less
than 2 seconds for the day. It was close all day but 3 penalties on
Julian's third run made the difference. Julian had a consistent season and
will come home with a 3rd place season trophy. Katie Orgler had a good
drive as well, but two cones on each of her last two runs put her only 2
seconds behind Julian in 5th. Mike Golden after his gut-wrenching first
run seemed rattled the rest of the day, perhaps pushing too hard in an
attempt to catch up and not setting the times we're used to seeing from
him. Mike ended up 6th for the day but more importantly losing the throne
to end up in 2nd for the season. Zach Nields, driving Julian's car in his
first rallycross seemed to be having a great day and certainly wasn't
setting granny times. With some more runs under his belt he'll be one to
watch next season. Andrew Alberts and Joey Ephron attended their first
rallycross in Andrew's recently purchased 2.5rs. Car issues, however,
prevented them from running in the afternoon. Now they have all winter to
get things sorted!
Gorka Arrieta drove a great day, consistently improving his times
throughout and taking his 2nd win in a row. Two wins at the end of the
season meant Gorka propelled himself into 2nd place for the season. Josh
Hickey did better when the course was sloppy than he had in the past, but a
few penalty filled runs pushed him back to 2nd for the day and 3rd for the
season. Shawn Roberts, the final victim of the loop, which he missed on
his first run pushed him back to 4th. But it didn't matter as he had
already locked up the season championship with wins in 5 of the 7 events.
Chris Nonack in his V6 powered MR2 had a couple rough runs at the end of
the morning but was still able to bring home 5th place. Patrick Henry, who
has been consistently improving his pace since arriving on the scene a few
events ago, will be one to watch out for next year. Jason Reynolds,
driving Patrick's car, almost beat him but ended up 6 seconds behind in
7th. Matt Yip was the cone destroyer-of-the-day, acquiring 37 penalties.
A clean drive theoretically would've put him into 2nd, but he was
relinquished to 8th. Bobby Tjaden and Nick Drymalski set great times in
the morning, but fluid leaks meant they weren't able to finish the
afternoon runs.

Re: RallyX 2012
Modified Julian's post of the writeup to include bolds of all the DCAWD peeps mentioned.
Here is the class I was in:
Here is the class I was in:
*PA-*
PA was again the largest class of the day, with 12 competitors.
Practically winning every race he competed in, Mike Vess broke his motor
one event but secured the season championship without breaking a sweat.
And this event was no different. The guys in M4 will be interested to see
if he decides to move up next season. John Roscinski came closer than in
past events to Mike, and after a season long back-forth battle with Adam
Moore, came out on top today to take the silver for the year. Kyle
Schroeder in his first event, driving Torren's car, came in a very
surprising third for the day and showed what the car is capable of without
destroying cones. Danny Kao made his return and finished the day a
wrenching 7 tenths of a second behind Kyle. Adam Moore struggled in the
morning mud pushing too many cones off the course and had his worst finish
of the year but will be driving home with a 3rd place season trophy.
Torren Carlson had decent raw times but 31 cones gave him 62 seconds in
penalties pushing him back to 6th. Jeremy Miller kept his bumpers on his
STi and secured 7th. Jason Fox put down very respectable times in his
Forester coming in only 1.7 seconds behind Jeremy. David Keith once again
made the trip out to run with us and showed better pace than in past events
placing 9th. Jeremy Orozco had a tough time regaining his pace after lunch
but by the last run showed amazing speed in the dry conditions. Jonathan
Abarca, driving his first event as the 4th co-driver of Katie's car
improved his pace throughout the day. Ryan Stanley, also in his first
event showed very good pace improvement as the day progressed, but a few
mistakes on his second run of the afternoon stymied him to 12th.

Re: RallyX 2012
FYI:
We're looking at getting together on Saturday January 19th to go karting, have dinner and beer (not in that order), and hand out the season trophies. Karting will be done again at AllSports Grand Prix in Sterling, VA, starting at 5PM. Dinner will likely be at Red Robin nearby at approximately 7PM. The format of the karting events (and price) will vary depending on how many people plan to attend. If you're not interested in karting please just come have dinner and/or a beer with us. We had a great past two seasons under Jard's leadership and will use this chance for everyone to extend a thanks. We look forward to seeing you! All of MAIC are welcome to join us.
